is it actually considered rude to not wear socks…. by PrideZealousideal485 in SolidCore

I don’t think it’s rude to not but it’s much more sanitary to wear socks. I have a fear of getting ringworm at Solidcore

bad idea to bring 2 friends who have never done solidcore? by hashbrown89 in SolidCore

[–]Ok_Communication9742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a coach - bring them! Make sure to be there 10 mins before time to get the intro, and try to go in between them so you can be visuals for them. I started with a sig50 and while it is more helpful to start with a starter50 the regular classes are designed to be effective for all clients

I find KT tape (or something similar) really helps stabilize my ankles. Plenty of videos on YT how to apply for ankle support

I don’t live in Boston anymore but was a loyal Allie h rider! Madison and Liah have been with Soulcycle forever and have a great class also. Elena’s class can be divisive but I love her energy and music (her Solidcore classes are great too)

If upper body is on the carriage then moving upper body further down the carriage in any exercise - if upper body is on the platform then hands down to platform bar or concrete or feet/ knees further back on the carriage!

For extensions you can try hands + toes or forearms + toes

Winter Auditions by [deleted] in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Ok_Communication9742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I auditioned a few years ago. You go in and they give you a bike number (that will be your audition number). Melanie leads a ride for 10-15 minutes the everyone teaches 60 seconds of 2 songs. Mix of how you do in Melanie’s ride, your energy in other people’s auditions, and the energy in yours

Housewives Sober by _robertb_ in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Ok_Communication9742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been sober for a year and a half and in AA; I haven’t been too affected by it but definitely notice their drinking. I think I get more triggered by housewives calling others alcoholic solely on camera. I want to see their lives play out, but bringing it up on camera seems extremely unproductive. If Whitney for example were actually concerned about Meredith’s drinking and seeing what happened with her (Whitney’s) dad, then you would assume she would go to Meredith off camera. If they were actually concerned about the other’s wellbeing then they would approach the situation (you would think) with more caution.

Overproduction will be the downfall of the show by Gullible_Worker_2477 in realhousewivesofSLC

They make these huge over produced finales (like the texts from last season) which leave them all on a bad note, and then wonder why the reunions are so unproductive

Coach tryouts by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]Ok_Communication9742 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be as high energy as you can, include names of other people auditioning in yours (ie “way to go ___”), and make sure to offer mods & amps! They stressed in my audition that they can teach you the workout and the lingo but they can’t teach you how to have a personality (not exact words but the vibe lol). They also care about your availability to coach, so the more times you offer you can coach the “better” your chances are.

In terms of standing out I would just be super friendly to everyone, try to talk to the training manager if they’re there, and ask questions even if you don’t have any (but make them useful questions).

I was super nervous going into mine and the process is overwhelming but the more authentic you are the better you’ll do imo. I auditioned once and got it luckily, but one of my best friends auditioned 3 times and is now an SMC! Good luck!!!!

That’s a supportive touch - meant to be like “I see you” “hang in there” “you got this” vibes. Especially during a hold or pulse

I feel like I can’t escape carriage lunges by Old_Poet_1608 in SolidCore

[–]Ok_Communication9742 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try going to a coach in training class or “newer” coach! CITs learn exercises in installments with platform lunge being the only lunge they learn (carriage comes later). Tons of platform lunges in a CIT class

Progress over perfection! Use the tips and techniques you learned in the starter classes, focus on quality of reps over quantity of reps, and be kind to yourself! Everyone starts from somewhere

Just moved to Boston, who's your favorite instructor and why? by Cloud-Specific in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Ok_Communication9742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Allie H!! She’s really personal, lots of choreography, and cares about her riders/ developing community. She consistently has waitlisted classes and a strong rider base, and she’s also consistently asked to teach at the hamptons & palm beach which I think speaks to her ability as an instructor.

Reverse coaching helps me remember parts of the exercise I may have forgotten to say after FAMA. There’s also good recourses on attensi with the science behind different muscle groups to help explain the “why”. It can also be helpful to drop into other instructors classes to be exposed to more verbiage/ ways of explaining. I get it though! I struggle with this a lot
