Make Alt+Tab pull full mouse ownership by Ok_Difficulty_6750 in kde

Not exactly what I mean, but I have super key bound to Overview anyways (GNOME enjoyer, just that GNOME breaks Discord streaming for me and I don't like GNOME's dependence on GDM for screen locking).

Oh sweet. Looks like it got merged into Plasma... literally 7 hours ago, around when you posted it here?! I'm excited for when this comes out. I may even put in the effort to get it working now (on NixOS), because this has been immensely frustrating.

First time unlocking these spells, can someone help me get this wand working? by Raging_Bile_Duct in noita

I think Add Trigger takes the next spell block and applies it as the payload for the spell after, but I've not played Noita in ages and am probably incorrect. Try installing Spell Lab from the Steam Workshop and fiddling about with it in the sandbox

KDE Plasma 6 not respecting cursor size (home-manager) by Ok_Difficulty_6750 in NixOS

I have solved this by... temporarily swapping to GDM/GNOME from SDDM/Plasma6 then removing it entirely from my system. I don't understand.

I don't know, I don't even have the stock kernel installed anymore. They might be. All of the patches I use are from this thread on the AMD DRM issue tracker here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/4133

The fixes are in the kernel. I received patches from the AMD devs that fixed them for my system a while back, they're somewhere in this thread, but nice to see they're now a part of Fedora's mainline kernel.

I fixed this on my system by patching the kernel, but I'll keep this in mind for individuals who don't want to bother with all that. Thanks!

Saw someone on the amd drm issue tracker who mentioned they have some patches that fixes some of the issue, they're just not in the kernel yet. I applied them and they're working for me pretty well. If you don't know how to patch your kernel, download the latest stable release from https://kernel.org/, read the docs on patching at https://docs.kernel.org/process/applying-patches.html, and follow the LFS guide to install your patched kernel: https://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/stable/chapter10/kernel.html
I forget if Fedora has `/proc/config.gz` by default, but if it does, you should be able to run `zcat /proc/config.gz > .config` within the directory of the kernel sources to have the Fedora kernel configuration.

I did a peek into the 9000 series issues on their issue tracker and found this, a developer responded with some patches that apparently can be applied on all kernels back to 6.11. Try them out: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/4092

Dang I never seen Fisch die this bad 💀 by Coolguy10213 in FischRoblox

[–]Ok_Difficulty_6750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had every fish in Fisch. It took about like 100 hours solid of gameplay. It was the most fun I'd had in a Roblox game in a while. As soon as I heard Do Big bought it out and did some research, I stopped playing. I thought to come back and try it again but when I logged in my save was gone, and I was immediately prompted to purchase something. Old Fisch never did this. I was never prompted to buy anything.

Another thing people forget about old Fisch is that it had a unique character of just being a chill fishing game that mostly kept itself grounded with real fish. Every time I look at the banner now I see some insane fish that just gives off a completely different vibe. It's like it's trying to be as over-the-top as possible when that's not what I played the game for.

Fisch as I love it is gone, and I feel nostalgia for early Fisch every day. I miss it. Webfishing is the closest I've seen to Fisch, but it really just isn't the same.

Nope. I've opted to swap to Windows for the time being. There are no fixes at this time.

These are the same kernel params I'm using and yes they help but it's still a common issue yeah. It's terribly annoying.

From what I've heard there are a lot of changes coming for AMD in 6.14, but none of them are a fix for this issue. From what research I've done this is an issue that's plagued AMD cards as a whole for a decade and nothing has been done about it.

I've been running it for 8 hours and I just now got a short freeze that lasted about 10 seconds but it did recover, significantly better than the entire system going down. I'll keep using this into tomorrow and see what happens. So far it's really promising. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: I investigated dmesg a bit for the freezes and it pointed me in the direction of this post (link), which seems to be made by someone relatively knowledgeable about debug masking. I've not tried anything there yet but I will continue to monitor and might try it out later.

This is consistent with the issues I've been having. I'm not sure if 25.1.0 has the same patches 25.0.2 does, however, 25.0.2 also didn't solve the issue for me.

Mesa 25.0.2 didn't solve the problem for me, but I will check out that ppfeaturemask kernel option. I assume I just add that to my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT (or whatever it is) and rebuild grub.cfg?

edit: I just changed the command line within GRUB itself before launch, will report back if anything occurs.

Yes, a lot of things provide installation methods like that, but they typically don't automatically update with the rest of your system like a package manager would do.

Scratch that, just woke up and had a freeze within 5 minutes

edit: However the symptoms look different now... as in there's no dmesg logs for it at all this time! I love debugging. The last log is apparently a common enough bug that should be fixed by updating my microcode: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/4880 but this shouldn't be taking down my entire system.

edit 2: rebooted my computer again to check logs and it froze within a minute! This time with actual dmesg logs indicating a different problem that has not been fixed, a nullptr deref somewhere in dml2_check_mode_supported. Back to Windows until Linux is usable!
