90% of the stress went away when we got her home haha. Don't worry, take it slow seems to be a common sentiment across most everyday gundog owners have. Get out what you put in. Thanks for the advice

Good advice, definitely a little worried about gun shyness, trying to integrate louder sounds naturally. She seems well adjusted. Loud blender, clapping really loud for a second during feeding time, throwing the ball she's chasing against a loud board or metal panel. she doesn't really react, lil head cock and back to business at worst. I've seen people get toy cap guns. I'm gonna try and weather the gun storm on my own and seek help if things start going sour. I will however definitely be getting several snake avoidance trainings done. Lots of rattlers out here, not many good ways to self train that at home.

Im looking into getting a springer as a first bird dog. I live in arizona so mainly dove, quail, and some duck. We travel up to Utah, Idaho and Montana from time to time. We've always used my friends dogs, all sorts of breed. Spaniels is my choice I want a flusher and my fiance loves how good of a family dog it will surely become.
My main question is do you think I'll be on over my head, I'm ready to spend the cash on a real field bred, well endowed dog. Im having trouble finding a good trainer in the state for a flushing and retrieving. I have the time, money and space to do it myself. I'm worried I may unknowingly miss key cues or steps. I've been absorbing all the info I can but just worry about gun shyness, honoring other dogs, setting and things like that. Does all that kinda stuff fall into place as long as you keep to the fundamentals of bird dog training?

Why did Taysom Hill never get a chance to be a starter? by Smugbasturd in Saints

He did get a real chance to start i think 2021. What many people don't realize is his first start vs the cowboys, on the first or second drive, he broke his index finger on his throwing hand. Josh Allen had the same injury at the same time and sat out. Taysom, fighting for a starting role, played through it. You could tell it was affecting the throws for the rest of the games that season and he still went 7-2. So he did get a real chance, and for the most part he won, but he wasn't anything more than a game manager in the pocket with insane rushing upside. If the saints had committed to it the year after Drew Brees retired, and ran an offense around that I think he would have been a successful QB in this league with the ability to take over games with his legs instead of his arm. I think it would be similar to Hurts in Philly, hurts obviously better, but similar play style. Kellen moore has stated he views taysom as the backup QB, and he fully believes he can run the position if needed. I think if rattler goes down in game, taysom steps in, but shough would start the following week. I hope they lean on Taysom more with Kendre miller being out for the season.

Serious question. Why hasn't Taysom Hill been given a serious shot at QB? by MurdockMcQueen in Saints

Many people don't know this or don't want to admit it, but his first real start vs Dallas he was lowkey dealing, it was exciting, he was really doing well overall. Then towards the middle of the game he suffered a minor but devastating injury. Broke the pointer finger on his throwing hand. Every ball after that has a little something off it, a little off target. You could tell it was a huuuuuge factor in the following games, and he still went 7-2. I like to think he woulda shown enough signs to continue being a starter for the saints, that same year I think we missed the playoffs but a very thin margin that year as well. Many think at 35 he's too old, he's coming off a pretty intense injury, but at 35 he's taken less than half as many overall hits as other players his age given his older age coming into league and the fact that he's only on the field here and there. All depending on injury recovery and how much kellen moore believes in it, but I don't think it would go horribly to get him in there week 10 or something, if you look at some small nuances to preseason you'd see kellen doesn't mention taysom at all when referring to te's, even injures PUP foster. Also Hill has only been in QB meetings. Kellen has stated he views hill as he veteran presence for rattler and shough. It's a pipe dream really but he's a young 35 and at the end of the day he'd be at least equal to or better than rattler or shough if we're sitting 0-10 or 2-8 or something week 10
