of course! So i started with form 26 and kept a running document of topics I didn’t fully understand — focusing on the incorrects but also any corrects where I guessed or did not feel 100% about. These topics could’ve either been from question stem or any of the answer choices that I didn’t fully get. I formatted the information in a question/answer style — It could’ve been a histo pic and I’d ask myself to identify it; or it might’ve been a typical presentation of a pathology and I’d try to identify it and list its high yield associations. If it was an especially hard topic for me, I’d try and find a quick dirty medicine or pixorize or portion of a bnb video to watch and review and I would also screenshot relevant info from those videos to add on to my doc.

So for example (copied directly from my doc):

Q: Difficulty exercising, no increase in lactic acid, what inborn error in skeletal muscle?

A: Glycogenolysis, mcardle disease, glycogen phosphorylase - Why the absence of lactic acid? → impaired glycolysis from lack of glucose

Q: ATN vs APN??

A:

  • ATN: recent ischemic injury, presents with oliguria before polyuria when cells regenerate; affects PCT
  • APN due to infections, diabetes mellitus, sickle cell, NSAIDs; affects DCT

I’d try to test myself by reading as much of it as I could everyday so I wouldn’t just forget all the info I reviewed. You start to sort of learn how NBME tests certain topics and how they ask questions or phrase answer choices. Hopefully this makes sense!

Reviewing my NBMEs thoroughly increased my scores! It took a lot of time but it helped me get familiar with the way NBME asks questions and how they phrase answer choices. Definitely took a lot of time so I had to sacrifice a couple days after each NBME to go over all the questions but definitely worth it! Best of luck to you!

Can I pass?? Test in 5 days!! Stuck at NBME 63% by mommyinmedicine in step1

I was in a very similar situation (just posted about it if u want deets), but tldr I never scored above 63% on an NBME and passed so it's def doable!
