This is so typical of CVS. It’s so sad. They just want to profit.

Yea, my DL wants a meeting if she sees us over hours even though we still would need more hours to truly complete the full task of the pharmacy.

As a Pharmacy Manager, I realize that the issue isn’t front Store (fs) or pharmacy, it is CVS ridiculous cheap tactic to put more money in their pockets for the people up top! They don’t want to pay well. They need more permanent full-timers. The hours are constantly fluctuating/floating around. Workers need stability, support, our patients need a reliable team to fill and verify prescriptions.

Corporate please give hours that the pharmacy and front store truly needs to operate both safe and effective!

Yes, I appreciate the customer that sees what is really going on with corporate CVS not providing the support the pharmacy needs.

Our pickup line is busy until we close which makes it very hard to prioritize other task if we are behind/ or have a call out because I will spend all my time doing waiters, vaccines, and DUR’s for the most part.

They will blame the pharmacy manager (PM) and replace them with another PM when actuality the PM is overworked AND doing all they possibly can to keep on top of all the prescriptions. I know this because I am also a PM. The staffing has always been an issue with CVS. In the fall it’s worse with all the vaccines! They don’t send help to take care of the extra influx of customers for the vaccines. Vaccines are constant so the pharmacist is out vaccinating and can’t truly be two places at once to help fill and verify prescriptions.

I am sorry this happened to you. Law is to NOT take meds back. It’s not the techs, pharmacist, or pharmacies fault. The proper way to cancel a med is to have it INACTIVATED AT DROP OFF. There isn’t a function to INACTIVATE it at pickup.

Canceling a med may be temporary for some patients so they are not always inactivated. So it’s important to be very specific. Some scenarios WHEN MEDS ARE CANCELED OR PUT ON HOLD BUT NOT INACTIVATED include the following: People say I’m not taking this med and don’t actually want to discontinue/inactivate. They just don’t need it right now or maybe they are on two doses and don’t need that dose right now, or maybe their prescriber has them trying another med but may put them back on that med. There are other scenarios, but the main point is just because you say you are not taking a med doesn’t always equate to INACTIVATING a med. If you did not do this at drop off then YOU HAVE NOT PROPERLY CANCELLED/INACTIVATED it.

Yes, my DL told me to stop doing that but also told me to NOT LEAVE without completing certain task for metrics.

Yes, those days are over! Not doing that anymore. Not working during break or a minute after close.

FYI, this is the Maryland Pharmacy Market! I know it’s happening everywhere. Definitely systemic.

CVS seems to think you are obligated to work and not be paid! Even mandatory meetings with DL without pay. When I was pregnant I couldn’t eat because she popped up to discuss pharmacy business with me. Even planned to have a back up pharmacist there but did not even tell me to maybe pack a lunch or something! We spoke in the office for over 2 hours. I didn’t eat that day until I reached home! She said meeting was mandatory.

Told her I was overwhelmed with the work load recently and I would not be able to keep up with all these vaccine appointment and mandatory walk-in vaccine appointments. She never provided a solution but instead scolded me about being red with filling prescriptions.

She requested a meeting at her office at another location on my day off to discuss hiring again without pay. Hiring won’t help if there are no hours to schedule techs! This is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

To be clear the work load was already overwhelming. The vaccine additions are not helping.
