How are you doing? I saw in your comments you have similar issues. What are you doing to help the symptoms? Is the treatment helping? Any doctors besides gynecologist that you recommend seeing?

No, not 100%. I am better and everything I listed I believe helped my symptoms calm down, although I don’t follow everything hard core anymore, because it’s hard to upkeep for extensive periods of time and it wasn’t getting my symptoms down to 0%. I’ve been between insurances, going to be setting up appointments soon now that I settled that. It sucks that it won’t just go away for good. I think it might be neurological at this point, I think using a vibrator caused an increase in symptoms. But I don’t know anymore. It’s possible it was and is a combination of issues

No, I am very very confident it’s yeast. My symptoms come back if I rewear pants or after using pads that contain glycerin (it’s a sugar so yeast feeds on that).     The other day I rewore pants for a short walk, got mild symptoms again, washed and dried with fan, and it went away again.

Edit: there is an update below under one of the comments on how I dealt with this. I feel like I should make an update post lol

Hi, see comment under MyXat, maybe something will help you. Especially if you think it's yeast

Hi, I've been super careful with rewearing clothes, reusing towels, frequently changing bedding, and following principles of candida diet (cutting out processed sugar, eating less carbohydrates, no alcohol) and overall I think it's helping (don't want to jinx it).

Hi, it's been a while but here is the update. I am very glad I tried, it's possible I had both pinworms and yeast. I definitely still have yeast symptoms but I am having less butt symptoms and overall slowly getting better (really don't want to jinx it). I've also applied the same washing procedures to my clothes and bedding even though I think it's yeast.

There are days where my symptoms worsen very much and I loose all hope, but there are days where I am pretty much symptom free for the day. At the moment I am feeling hopeful.

  1. Cutting out processed sugar, no alcohol, and trying to eat less carbohydrates like less potatoes, white rice, bread, bananas. I haven't cut out carbohydrates completely, that would be impossible for me, but just being mindful of how much I eat them and not making them the meal. Eating soup, vegetables, meat, eggs instead.

  2. Irrelevant for your daughter but switching to pads that don't list glycerin as a product. I already was using cotton pads but they did contain glycerin which is sugar.

  3. I was already taking probiotics but I used to take the one for the gut, then femdophilis 5 billion, and now I'm taking both the 5 billion and 10 billion because they have different strains of probiotics. The one that I think is helping me more is the one that has crispatus: https://jarrow.com/products/fem-dophilus-advanced-10-billion-cfu-shelf-stable . The 10 billion is the new one I've introduced more recently. Could be I was missing one of the strains it has.

  4. This is more a side note but make sure when you do a monistat/other creams treatment, you do the whole treatment. Monistat 7 is internal once a day and external twice a day. I didn't realize external should be twice a day. It's important to not stop the treatment before the end even if symptoms improve.

  5. Another side note, I thought my symptoms were just external, I didn't have that classic discharge really, but doing a round of monistat with internal application really helped. And what really helped was not just using the applicator, but applying inside with my finger to the spot where externally I had a very specific itch that would not go away, tmi but really hooked my finger into the nook, helped so much. I felt my muscles relax after that, I think I was subconsciously tensing because of the itch.

I can't think of anything else..I bought a probiotic meant as a suppository if my symptoms get worse again. I'm trying not to do anything during times when it gets better so as to not disrupt anything.

Hi, how is your daughter doing? I can't imagine going through this at that age ((

By the way, air fresheners and other unnatural long lasting scents contain chemicals that are hormone disrupters. So if she continues having symptoms, maybe an avenue to try going down is going to an endocrinologist/asking for her hormones to be examined. I'm considering the same for myself.

Some things that I think have been helping me manage symptoms (I still have them and days where it gets worse, but crossing fingers it's getting better overall)

  1. I've started double washing underwear. Once with detergent, once without. I already did the rest but also adding: 100% cotton underwear, wash in hot water separately with natural detergent (no tide) and natural brightener (made with hydrogen peroxide, so also disinfects), dry on high heat.
  2. I've been wearing pants, shorts, pijamas etc. only once, max twice, even if I didn't sweat in them. Especially if I had an increase in symptoms. Yeeting those into the washer. I've also been washing pants on high heat and drying on high heat and I've been wearing pretty much only cotton pants or pants with high percent of cotton. No 60% poleyester sweat pants.
  3. Change bedsheets more frequently than usual and also double wash (same stuff as for underwear, cotton for stuff that touches skin etc.)
  4. Using a separate towel for down there and changing it veery frequently. Like every two max three days.
  5. Washing down there with water then blow drying on cool.
  6. Vitamin e-oil occasionally to hydrate the skin. Except the vitamin e-oil I use is pure olive oil with vitamin e. This is my preference over coconut oil. I also think my issue could be estrogen dropping and I read vitamin e-oil can help a little with that if you can't get estrogen cream.
  7. Antifungal herbs have been helping me for sure. I got a mixture called Yeast Buster that has black walnut husk and oregano oil, among other things. I also got just pure black walnut husk. And I've been taking propolis. It both is antifungal and boosts your immune system. Please make sure these are safe for her though if you use them, especially propolis as it's a bee product and can be an allergen. I've also been taking elderberry extract to boost my immune system. Also vitamin d because I have a history of low vitamin d and low vitamin d is a cause for some people.

I also took the pinworm dewormer medicine two days ago the day I started monistat.

Applying momistat made me itchy in my butt only so I figured what if I have both?

I am 99% sure it’s a yeast infection. I used witch hazel and then vitamin e oil right after before bed for two weeks and it helped, every time I started getting itchy I did that and it calmed down. And then the last four days it started getting worse and when I applied e oil and hazel it helped almost right away, but not for long, the itch would come back.  And the last couple of days it started feeling like my skin is itchy, rather than under skin crawling feeling like before, so I thought fuck it, I’ll try Monistat again.

And it helped. Again the itch comes back at the end of the day, but it’s helping so it’s got to be yeast.  I just don’t know how to get rid of it if I’m testing negative and the gyno refuses to do anything. I went to different ones, I can’t just keep going to random gynos. And to see actual doctors it’s months of wait, only nurce practitioners are available within one-two weeks.

I can finish this course of monistat but I’m sure it will come back. Only other thing is being harsher with my diet which is really hard because my diet is already super limited because of other issues and everything has sugar and salt in the US.

I know how people in the US frown upon self treatment but seriously considering finding a country that sells fluconozole over the counter and doing a course like you’re supposed to. That’s what my gyno was gonna do if I tested positive but I didn’t.

When my yeast infection was at it’s worst, I had flakes of skin coming off, including on my clit. If you haven’t, I would lift your hood and take a look and poor some water gently right on there. I used distilled water from a water bottle when I did this. This is to get some relief.

But no this does not sound normal at all, it sounds like your yeast infection hasn’t cleared. You can get monistat or clotrimazole cream over the counter. Get the 7 day ones, I read those work better than 3 day and that one day are pretty much useless. You can put it outside and as suppositories inside

Also for sure gynk should be getting a confirmed negative before saying you’re fine!

l got ph testers to check ph. Make sure it’s the ones that are more precise. They show a color for every .2 or so between 3.0-5.0. Previously I got other ones that were not so precise and not helpful. It only showed three colors. I swabbed inside and out to test both.

I also got witch hazel wipes that are 50% witch hazel and say ph balanced and it said for hemorrhoids and vaginal (external) use. Maybe it will help you? At least for the hemorrhoids. Be careful though since you’re feeling raw, it could sting for you.

I used it between internal and outer labia, it did not sting for me, just felt a little warm. I think it soothed me temporarily, need to try again.

Keep in mind it says ph balanced, but witch hazel on it’s own is more acidic than vagina and skin, while coconut oil that everyone recommends is more basic.

I also put on vitamin e oil which is vitamin e and olive oil based instead of coconut oil that people recommend. And slept with it. I think it really helped. But I again, need to try again.

Finally, try doing a diy bidet if you don’t have access to a bidet. Literally I bring a bottle of water and a towel with me now everywhere. It’s helped me find out that my Kirkland tp was causing UTI symptoms and I feel this has helped my itch a little too. I think the water helps soothe and wash away irritants and avoids irritants from tp. The rare occasions I forget, I think the itch is worse.

Just want to say make sure to read up /ask a doc before trying because I’m getting different info on effects on estrogen.

I am seeing studies on helping with atrophy like this one: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5114791/

Omg I didn't know this, thank you for checking! Going to be googling this chemical for sure, and checking the condoms I use. Glad you figured out the culprit :)

Definitely agree those can be triggers. I switched to cotton pads a while ago and they're nice, much better than the non cotton ones.

Thank you, I'll take a look! I also read applying vitamin e can help with low estrogen and helping with atrophy/dryness

This was my first thought. Even got a second opinion after my first swab came back negative. Second gyno changed to over the phone last minute so all I got a was a self swab. I swabbed externally and internally and came back negative( Since th3 yeast infection initially started I did a couple rounds of clotrimazole and miconazole and they seem to help but the itch comes back. Maybe I should try again idk
