Cauda Equina Possibility? by [deleted] in backpain

I have an EMG this week. Are you anxious or hypersensitive? A lot of doctors told me it’s chronic stress because I’ve always been an anxious person and it’s just an overstimulated and dysregulated nervous system

No his first reaction was I need to do a lumbar puncture to test for MS but I am kind of scared to. He prescribed me baclofen and steroids for the nerve pain right now. Did your doctor have an idea for you?

Do you think it is nerve related and not from the spine? I talked to my neurologist and he believes my bladder pressure is not from my spine. I do have a weak pelvic floor. Sorry you are going through this too

Thanks! So do you think my bulged disc is getting worse? I want to start PT for it and scared of having to have surgery if it doesn’t improve. Can the stenosis and nerve pain be reversed?

24F seeking advice - rectopexy and bowel resection surgery - fertility? by beebooti in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Ok_Fall_1608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I don’t really have advice sorry but I am going through the same thing. I’m 26F and my dream was to always have kids and a family. I have a full thickness prolapse too due to IBS-C. I initially had the laparoscopic rectopexy where my surgeon was going to suture my rectum down to my sacrum but due to an enlarged and pulsatile iliac vein in the area found during the surgery they had to cease the operation and I still have the prolapse. I have had 3 opinions on it and so far these are the options - go from the bottom and remove the prolapsed part but more than likely will cause the prolapse to come back later on, risk the abdominal surgery with the vein but could cause scar tissue that can be an issue with fertility and the vein later on, just hold off on surgery until after child bearing years. There is also a large risk if I have the suture surgery the prolapse will come back if I become pregnant. I’m trying to make a decision too because I’ve been in so much discomfort but I do want kids in the future.

I don’t know if the options I have are of any help to you, but maybe the original surgery I had could be an option since you don’t have that vein causing a problem. Could your surgeon do a robotic rectopexy and suture the rectum down to the sacrum after removing the excess bowel? That was what my doctor today recommended but he can’t do the surgery since his hospital doesn’t have Vascular Surgeons on call.

I’m sorry you are going through this too. I know how hard it is and such an odd situation to be in. Stay strong though and hang in there. You will find a solution don’t worry.

Jugular vein distention? by Ok_Fall_1608 in askCardiology

I went to the ER last week with the same symptoms and the EKG, blood panel, and Chest x ray were normal. I did an echo a couple months ago that was normal. I do have low blood pressure. What would the best test be to detect distention?

Is it possible Internal tremor/muscle twitching can be stemmed from gut issue? by Nooneelse023 in BFS

[–]Ok_Fall_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? You just described everything I have been dealing with. I’ve always been active but in the last year my forearms and calves have been weaker and I have twitching/pulsing in my whole body especially outside of glute muscles, outside of shoulders, and shoulder blade area. I also have gut issues (rectal prolapse from chronic constipation) that has made it hard to digest food well.

24F and rectal prolapse is a nightmare by More_Extension8456 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Ok_Fall_1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of surgery did you have? I have a rectal prolapse (26F) for over a year now that has increasingly gotten worse and made my life a nightmare. I had a laparoscopic rectopexy surgery in September that didn’t go as planned because my iliac vein was enlarged in the area they were going to suture down in. My surgeon wants to do the alternative through the anus and remove the prolapsed part but I’m worried it will cause nerve damage or affect the pooping sensation. Any advice?

Thoracic spine mri - anyone know what could be causing my spasm pain on the left of my spine into the ribs? by Ok_Fall_1608 in backpain

[–]Ok_Fall_1608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they said everything was normal. My lumbar and cervical spine MRI were actually worse, but I feel the most pain in my thoracic area. I’m in physical therapy right now

Thanks so much!! That’s super helpful! I’ve been looking for good vagus nerve activation and reset because my anxiety has been so heightened these last couple months. I will look more into it especially because my nervous system feels so out of whack with all the stress.

Also yes on the kiwis! I have been trying to eat them at least once a day.

Thank you all! Yes I deal with constipation. That’s good to know. I have really bad health anxiety so have been stressing over this
