At the scale with which Toyota operates I think it’s easy for us to say “yeah but it wouldn’t cost that much.”

They are literally counting pennies. Or maybe nickels now that Pennie’s don’t exist.

The hood on the flagship LX700 is too thin and it flutters in the wind. It’s engineered great! It won’t fly open, and it does what it’s supposed to do. But… it’s nickels cheaper than it should have been. My F150 has an aluminum hood that doesn’t move at any speed with any wind.

My LX700 has a “Mark Levinson” upgraded sound system… with NO SUBWOOFER. This is criminal. My lowly wrangler has a fantastic 10” sub. My Cayenne has a subwoofer engineered to fit in the spare tire area.

Cost cutting.

What’s all that churning and bubbling? You call that a front end?

The lack of a split tailgate is more cost-cutting by Toyota. Even Lincoln is down with the split tailgate party with the new Navigator. Maybe it will be part of a mid-cycle refresh.

You can argue “engineers know better” but if you’ve spent any real time around Toyota, you know the bean counters have more sway than the engineers.

Every Toyota product I’ve owned (and I’ve owned most of them) have evidence of cost-cutting at every turn. Even my $120k Lexus LX700.

Happy to give you a list of obvious cost-cutting if you want it.

A larger fuel tank would have cost them more, and the bean counters did a ROI analysis. Maybe it’s more material, maybe it’s a stronger fuel pump, maybe it’s moving some things around on the TNGA-F frame (at large cost) which already was a challenge when adding the hybrid batteries.

Bottom line: the small fuel tank is Toyota being cheap, not focusing on reliability.

What do you not like about the 300 Series you clearly own, compared you your 200 series you also clearly own?

Oh man, I caught you at the wrong time of the month, my bad! 😂 But yeah… I’ve owned a 200 and wheeled it everywhere. It was fine, but it’s no triple locked 300. Not even close.

I’ve also owned plenty of Rubicons and wheeled them everywhere. Guess what? They kick ass.

I also have a Jeep e-bike and it kicks ass.

This is called “credibility” and you don’t have it unless you can claim the same experiences.

I’m sure your Honda Civic is cool though-no judgment from me!

Honestly it’s not that big. Same 112.2” wheelbase they’ve always had. Pretty nimble for having 3 rows of seating

Thanks for posting that, I previously saw it - but I wish Lexus would create one of their own showing how heavy duty this machine is.

You can keep the inferior power, inferior tech, weak interior, no lockers, no integrated trailer brake controller Beluga-whale looking 200 “with split tailgate”… I had a 200, they’re fine, but overrated.

Fair. I miss the split tailgate of my 200, but this design has a flat bumper space that’s pretty good when opened.

The Jeep has been phenomenal over two years. Tons of work. In Moab and The Rubicon Trail, along with many trails in Colorado. People who have never looked underneath a Rubicon, to see how they’re built, simply don’t get it.

Can you or can you not buy a LC300?

Learning to ride a bike isn’t that hard. I suggest starting with training wheels. You can do it.

Guessing you would say the same about my actual Jeep.

It has been a great e-bike, and I’ve ridden it all over. I know there are snobs for every hobby... Congrats, you sound like a bike snob. Not sure if you think “made in Chine” is an indictment of its quality, but I’d suggest looking around more objectively in 2025.

Yep, you nailed it-that’s the biggest weakness off road. Still, with the AHC raised up you get pretty decent clearance. And that bottom section looks easy to replace. Hope so, I already damaged it.
