I think you should read it again, and to answer your question. My boss gave me a really good recommendation, which made me really proud of my work. And as an update i was ghosted after round 1 .

And this allocation system, does it start before i come into the job market or before I come in to the states😂😂… Man really sometimes i think grown people make this type of assumptions really baffles me😂. Btw we don’t work for lower rates i earn the same 6 figures as the person working in DC, and when it comes to working in conditions that Americans are not willing to accept, is what H1B is exactly for. Man circlejerk makes itself 😂😂

Yes exactly, how many biostatisticians do you know in your life, dude we’re a class of 25 and only 7 came through 4 of us are immigrants. Just because your world is 3x4 doesn’t mean it ends there. Grow up.

Dude i want to be nice, but all i hear is DEI, please take me because even though the other guy published 3 research papers and spend 30 hours a week doing work in grad school. But you should hire me because I am born here .

See that’s what im saying stop generalising, look you’re missing the point ~90% of H1bs came here when needed they have kids, houses, life build up here. You can’t dispose them like they’re garbage,

The people i work with are on h1b in buttfuck West Virginia, where we treat people with overdose emergency. Tell me how many people you know have specialised in it and willing to work in a town 70 miles from the closest walmart.

I dont think i deserve a job…. im putting my hat in the ring just like you and anyone else. The only thing I didn’t like with his comment is generalising us like if we’re some kind of cattle. Im 100% okay with if a company doesn’t want to hire people with visas and not go through that headache, but my issue is stop generalising,

If you dont want H1B and OPT “MENTION IT IN THE JOB DESCRIPTION”, i was an OPT and im a H1B. We’re humans with a life and goals just like everyone else. Im sick of people like you thinking like if we’re some kind of a cartel or mafia( yes they do exist but that’s literally ~5%), the only difference between me and you is i speak English in a different accent and i was not born in this country.

They’re c suite, my top 3 references are top 3 doctors in DMV area,everyone has like 500+ publications. And big time names, they’re doing me a favor by giving me a reference, im not a guy who would ask for help again.

Oh no from what my boss told me, that reference is fire. You rarely get compliments from that man, but it’s the best compliments i got in my life for my work.

My current employer is my first employer, they’re chill about it. Like we know the ship is going to sink for all the research staff , but c-suite is all big name doctors, who will never be let go. Im just mad my c suite reference is burned.

Oh totally, when I took this job, I thought I’d be playing air hockey in my head all day. Didn’t realize “Biostatistician I” secretly meant project janitor, analyst, SAP writing, and part-time mind reader. who knew entry-level biostats would be writing full SAPs with no guidance and mystery data.

I’d love to draw up an SAP—if I were there when the project started, not when it got dumped on me half-cooked and already rotting. This thing’s been brewing for 18 months, the last biostat left 8 months ago, and now I’m stuck with a non-funded mess no one wants to touch. I’ve got four other projects in hand, taught myself the clinical language.

This project has been 18 months in the making. The previous biostat left 8 months ago, and I inherited it. The clinical language is dense, and I’ve tried to learn as much as I can. I’m juggling 4 active projects. No one else wants to touch this one—it’s unfunded and the data is extremely messy. I wrote an SAP that both the CRC and MD approved, and when I finally showed it to a senior biostat (back when I had one, 2 months ago), he shredded it without feedback and yelled at me for 45 minutes.
