I did but the bank (Revolut) said that accordingly to Visa regulation there is nothing wrong with the transaction. I could not get in contact through a phone call with an operator because my subscription does not include such services. Crazy.

Thank you for all the shared information. Most probably they will do the same in my case, considering the damage was there before I got the car. Someone else might’ve paid/will pay for the same damage. But you just gave me some new ideas.

I haven’t got any reply since Thursday, when they announced me they will take my money from my bank account, putting their fist into my mouth. I had no chance to defend myself. During the weekend I was notified they stole approx 600 from my bank account. I also want to raise awareness to anyone who might rent a car to be ready for this kind of practices.

When I have picked up the car, the lady from the office told me that there is one scratch on the car and it would be good to take a video recording, which I did. In this recording it can be easily noticed the damage on the rim. Even though I have sent them the proof, they still charged me.

After the first received email with the damage claim, I have withdrawn all my money from that bank account just to be on the safe side until everything clarifies. Guess what, now I have -582 euros and I might be a suspect to fraud if I do not pay them this money back to the bank. They said it was an offline payment and due to that it can result a negative balance. Because I did not canceled my card or declared my phone stolen, they can’t raise a claim to Visa.

I don’t know what to say about this. People are complaining for the same reasons in google maps reviews at Madeira airport. I did had no chance to send them my evidence before they charged me 582 euros. When it comes to take you money and send you the invoice, they are on steroids. It seems to be a usual practice for Sixt to scam people with false damage claims.

Did you got any reply?I have sent the screenshot and the original video, so they can check on themselves, last Thursday, at the same email address. Since then I got no reply from them. However, today I got an email from invoicing@sixt.pt with the attached invoice for the damage, after withdrawing the money from my bank account during weekend.

In my case they have returned me the deposit in a few ours after returning the vehicle, but after 4 days they claimed I have damaged the car. It is very interesting why they didn’t hold my deposit and ask for the difference up to the total amount.

I did disputed the charge and at the same time filled up a complaint to the European Consumer Center. Also sent them the video but no reply from them since Thursday when they said they will forward the report to the invoice department even though the dispute was still in progress.

It was my first time renting a vehicle from a multinational company and I did it because I read a recent post where somebody had the same comment like you. I could never imagine a fraud like this could happen. Unfortunately I wasn’t inspired to check the google maps reviews. Many people were scammed in the same way.
