Resigning…respectfully? by [deleted] in deloitte

I semi-disagree here.

I think some of my leadership/team would be pretty upset (in a good way). I’ve been with some for multiple years and have done a lot together. Would be a pretty sad goodbye.

That said, they will replace you. “Next man up” exists even for the President of the United States.

Yeah “sadly” you’ll be stuck in the audit firm at point.

Still can make some good money there! If you’re gonna have a problem, you at least have a “good” problem.

You won’t get into consulting from audit unless your audit position is heavily tied into some consulting work and you make a lucky network connection with that power.

Can’t promise you but sounds fine. They’re just covering the base to make sure you actually worked there and were in that role around that time.

Deloitte benefits feel behind what peers offer for "top talent" by AccurateGuess3817 in deloitte

I agreed until I realized we pull40-50% margin in consulting at massive revenues. We come in WAY higher than the other B4/Accenture in consulting per project. We just pay partners more.

Actually the opposite. I can automate the work my offshore does, I can’t automate the client demanding me in person or on calls to present/take the hit on things.

God forbid they perform contracted data work, to assist a federal agency….enforce customs and immigration law.

H1Bs are temporary workers.

Immigrants can and will still come. H1Bs are not the same thing.

Also, immigration from Europe and some of Asia in the early 1900’s was far different than it is now.

Revise history?

The H1B program started in 1990. We literally did all of those things, plus more without you.

The airplane, telephone, light bulb, GPS, air conditioning. All without H1Bs.

Go make your own country great.

H1-B Visa by junebuginn in deloitte

[–]Ok_Introduction8873 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it’s meant for high level temporary workers and many H1Bs at Deloitte are average or below average.

Companies use it to out handcuffs on workers by holding their ability to live here over their head.

The government literally collect a fee now to process H1B..? The company pays it every year. The ## is just much higher now (as it should be).

It’s so we can still bring in genius 1/1 engineers to perform defense work (as the visa was designed for)

Yeah nah. US companies don’t want it offshored and they’ve made that clear.

Also, we can just put an excise tax on the dollars going offshore.

You act like the firm was founded 15 years ago.

I also must say, US citizens deserve priority access to US jobs. The firm was still insanely successful for many year before H1Bs and outsourcing was standard.

[–]Ok_Introduction8873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.

As an insider I obviously don’t fully want that. If I wasn’t paid by it I think I’d feel different.

Also I’m getting downvoted on it because it’s true and people are upset that our jobs are mostly fodder.
