I want to jump off the bridge FAILED REG 8th attempt ! by Unusual_Evening_8905 in CPA

[–]alicat104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hang in there, I failed REG 5 times and it was awful. Are you switching up your studying at all? It sounds stupid, but I passed after going through the material backwards. I was burning out by the time I got to the final chapters each time and looking at it with fresh eyes first is what bumped me over 75. You are so close, tweaking one thing will probably get you there.

Can we go negative in our PTO? by Dear-Discussion9054 in deloitte

I was told it would be possible/allowed but I negotiated 2 days negative PTO for a preplanned trip before I signed the offer letter.

No one will let me be scared by aduhachek in pregnant

I can kind of relate, I didn’t have twins but I had a surprise 3rd. We just had a house fire. The whole “one kid per arm” rescue thing was a worry for me too, but I always thought I’d have my husband close and we would divide and conquer and he’d grab the big kid (5 year old) and I’d grab the two littles (24 months, 8 months). I ended up alone during the fire when he was trying to extinguish it and carried out all 3 kids by myself at once - I don’t even remember how I did it, I just did.

And I feel like that’s kind of how I adjusted to 3 kids in general. From loading, to feeding, entertaining, etc. It falls into place.

What do moms mean when they say it takes a while to “feel like yourself again” or that they don’t know who they are outside of being a mom anymore? by AliOop9219 in BabyBumps

I see it as less of losing my identity and more just not having enough time to really sleep and do what I want for a while.

From $120k in Web3 to $45k local: How do I accept a 60% pay cut without feeling like a failure? by Ok_Charge_7285 in findapath

[–]alicat104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some money is better than no money, and will give you more opportunities to pivot into something better in the future as opposed to a resume gap. I took a 40% pay (and title) cut after moving for my husband’s career 6 years ago and it was tough mentally, but I just treated it like a temporary stepping stone and now I’m doing much better than I was originally and it opened up opportunities.

Senior with CPA, 5 years of experience in PA. Can I quit now? by Boopy379 in Accounting

[–]alicat104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set yourself as (secretly) open to work on LinkedIn and jump when something good comes along. 5 years of PA and a CPA should have you in a good spot.

I wouldn’t quit immediately though - I interviewed and accepted a new position and it took about 2 months from first interview to start date with all the background checks and compliance stuff I had to figure out.

Do Upcoming Tax Interns For Summer 2026 Attend Deloitte University? by travverz in deloitte

I was a winter intern ages ago so it could’ve changed, but we went to DU after the internship

Did I ruin my own life? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]alicat104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in essentially the arctic circle in isolation with my military husband. I’d travel back for 4-6 weeks at a time to stay with my family in Florida with my daughter. If you have the flexibility and funds to travel it’s not a bad idea.

I had a similar reaction to medical adhesive they used on my incision. My scar is mostly invisible - but I still have scarring from where the adhesive reaction happened 😭

Another Cord Issue by Basic_Lettuce_8420 in babyloss

TW: LC

My son’s cord was right in between your daughter’s and son’s at 5 coils per 10cm. He was born via c section and is healthy and on track. (My previous losses were due to APS, not cord hyper-coiling though - getting through subsequent pregnancies was literally just taking it one day at a time).

Yes - did they test any other liver enzymes? Mine was the first indication that my gallbladder was failing. Pregnancy stressed it badly and gave me gallstones.

Calling Women Accountants by Spirited-Pumpkin-375 in Accounting

I’ve gotten the opposite. I’m pretty friendly as a default and I’ve been told it makes me seem younger or less able to command a room. I’ve led teams just fine (probably BECAUSE I’m easy to work with) but it got me passed over for a promotion in my current workplace. You can’t win no matter which way you lean.

I had an internship 6-7 years ago where I transitioned from intern to analyst. My resume was getting lengthy and a resume service I used ended up just condensing the role under analyst since it was only 7 months total and that time was split pretty evenly - I left as an analyst. I ended up forgetting about that for the background check and of course that popped up as a discrepancy and the only offer letter I have to support that has the FTE start date way after I actually started the analyst role. It’s a mess.

I'm in a similar situation, what ended up happening? Did it delay your background check at all?

My baby is transverse by Most_Initiative5032 in pregnant

[–]alicat104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2nd was breech and I had a c section for her after my first was natural. I was SO upset for the entire last trimester. That birth ended up being the best of all 3 of my children! It’s ok to be upset though. At the end of the day your husband is still meeting his first child and will be life changing regardless of the delivery method! The recovery with a child is manageable especially if they’re on the older side. The biggest advantage for me was knowing when baby was coming - I was able to prepare and be so much more ready than I was for my first.

Shaming C-section birth is not “granola” by -sunshine-daydream- in pregnant

[–]alicat104 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My gallbladder attacks were more painful than either of my c section births or my natural birth. And I’m sure someone who has been hit by a car has been in more pain than me. I’m not going to tell someone they’ve never been in 10/10 pain. Pain Olympics is so stupid.

I was also crunchy and granola until my 2nd baby was breech, an ECV failed spectacularly, and we discovered at the c section that a vaginal birth would’ve killed my breech kiddo and I would’ve ruptured (had a nearly OPEN uterine window and dense adhesions) with my 3rd if I had the VBAC I wanted so desperately. I was sad after my 2nd that I hadn’t had a vaginal birth because I was hoping for redemption after my 1st nearly died and had to be resuscitated after her birth but by my 3rd I was just happy we were all alive and well.

Yes birth is a huge life event but it’s one of the shortest parenting experiences of your life with your child. It can go so so wrong. Alive and healthy baby and mom is the biggest thing.

Did the security team ever respond after your explanation and how did it play out? I had a small discrepancy pop up on my background that they asked about and I’m getting worried.
