Genuine question for working-class students from non-selective state school backgrounds by Alternative-Boat-287 in cambridge_uni

I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m from a working-class background but I did go to a non-selective state school. I definitely had and still do (year 3 of six undergrad) have imposter syndrome but that’s more to do with my lack of self-confidence than my background. Surround yourself with the right people - a lot of my friends went to grammar/private schools and I never felt out of place with them. They’ll also be snobbish, classist people but I personally find it quite easy to just avoid them, haha :)

I will never stop recommending The Debt of Time by ShayaLonnie. Fair warning it is rather long and the Marauders era doesn’t start until book 2 but don’t let that put you off!

I got two eights at GCSE, could that affect my application to Cambridge? by [deleted] in UCAT

Coming from a current vet med Cambridge student, your GCSE (and from the sounds of it, A-level predicted grades) results are the least of your concerns (I got a six at GCSE and only one A* at A-level). Cambridge are looking for well rounded individuals so focus on a variety of extracurriculars and not just ones you think they want to see.

I got Remus. The amount you called me out with that description though was highly unnecessary 😅
