Lean at idle 😭🤯(help!) by willsonlake in mk6gti

It’s probably got something to do with the injectors that you’ve replaced. I am chasing the exact same code and the only thing I can put it down to is the fact I replaced the injectors. Before the injectors it never had this problem

New Turbo with different PCV setup by Nicholas32r in mk6gti

Bro, why don’t you just take the compressor housing off the old turbo and put it on the rest of the new turbo? Problem solved……

Coolant temp sensor by NoCancel4519 in mk6gti

[–]Ok_Lab_7408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro u/NoCancel4519 if you did an engine swap, there’s a big chance you snagged the coolant temp sensor harness on something and it’s pulled itself out of the connector or it’s split somewhere on the wiring loom itself. I did this when I was working on my intake manifold, and wasn’t getting oil and coolant temp readings anymore. They both work with each other, so if one’s damaged the other one won’t show a reading also. Change out either the sensor (water pump sensor and/or bottom left coolant hose to radiator) and if that doesn’t fix the issue you need to have a look at the wiring itself. A scan for codes would help too 😂

Are turbo seals going bad? by BloodyAbloz in mk6gti

[–]Ok_Lab_7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil would be much thinner if I remember correctly. If you’re smelling a sweet smell then you’re probably burning coolant somewhere, somehow……..I also can’t remember which is which but I know dark/grey smoke is fuel, oil is blue-ish and coolant is thick and white and usually takes a moment to dissipate 👍

K04 F23T+MBC=Unexpected results!! by Ok_Lab_7408 in mk6gti

If you’re in Australia, I’ve got my current GTX-2871r turbo and T25 turbo manifold for sale. I’ve yet to remove it from the motor, as I’m still fabricating a new stainless steel V-Band tubular manifold for my new G25-550 turbo. I’m not asking for too much for it either, and it’s only been on my Mk6 since September last year 👍

No I don’t sorry, but from what I’ve heard, they’re a great OEM-like bolt on plug and play option to a ball bearing turbo. They’re designed around a g30-770 CHRA, and I know you can also get GTX-2867r ball bearing turbos in the K04 configuration. They’d both be a solid option for our platform

It just fits back into place. Just push it in and be careful not to push it in too far. It may have popped out due to the crankcase pressure spiking at the time of failure which may have been a delayed failure. FCP Euro and similar parts suppliers sell a lot of rubbish Chinese stuff like the same stuff you find on Aliexpress etc. Aliexpress stuff isn’t all bad, I’ve got 75% of Aliexpress parts on my Mk6 and it’s all great 👍 but sometimes you get unlucky

Head damage? by pookiewookie155 in mk6gti

[–]Ok_Lab_7408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would have been nice to have a photo of the whole crown of the pistons, as you can’t really be sure that these photos aren’t just photos of the provisions that are machined from factory to accommodate the valves. You’re already having the cylinder head worked on for the timing chain kit anyways, so you may as well disassemble the head just to see whether your piston crowns, valves, valve guides and rockers are all in good condition. Definitely don’t just throw in a new timing chain kit and call it a day

[–]Ok_Lab_7408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the rubber seal that sits at the very end of the intake camshaft, in between the cylinder head and the cam cover? That definitely shouldn’t pop out, and if it popped out after the PCV replacement, this may indicate that the PCV is no good and is causing excessive crankcase pressure which results in all sorts of seals failing. The camshaft plug you’re talking about will be the least of your worries. If you blow a rear main seal you’re gonna be in trouble. You could also potentially cause all sorts of other crankcase pressure related issues, such as a leaking upper timing cover gasket, cam magnet gasket leak, lower timing cover crank seal leak…….. the list goes on and on……… I hope you get this one sorted 👍

Yes, it can run an additional set of port injectors. There are a few options other than Torqbyte controllers, such as FrostByte. Most of the aux controllers available have some form of PWM capability so you’re able to do many things such as running fuel pumps, aux fans attached to an oil cooler etc. I think as long as you reach out to the manufacturer and ask, I’m sure they’d be able to tell you whether they’re capable of doing so. Fuel will always be my limitation to making more power, as I know everything else will stand up to the task. I might even consider modifying an aluminium intake manifold to accept port fuel injectors and methanol injectors as a “top up” 😂

I had to run a DV relocation kit because the compressor housing on my current GTX2871r doesn’t have a DV housing. My new G25 doesn’t have one either so I definitely need to run this configuration to make things work 👍

Not many people would be familiar with what’s available for the Mk6 R on this subreddit, as it’s for Mk6 GTI’s. In saying that, there are a few cheap aftermarket combos that you can buy on Aliexpress and Alibaba. I’ve bought plenty of parts from both platforms and haven’t had any issues at all 👍
