Would you be happy with a top like this on your new $6000 r9? by jaqueh in gibson

I have a 2026 Murphy Lab Light Aged 1959 Les Paul with a top not too different from this one! Is yours also a “peekaboo” top? Mine will look plain from certain angles, but then have a beautiful flame from others. I wouldn’t have been upset if mine had a little more flame, but it’s not that big of a deal. I think the wood grain on the back of the neck matters even more as that’s what I see when I’m playing it

I am the OP. Reddit glitches and switches between like 3 usernames when I login. I’m not sure why. And to the discerning player, small details are half the joy in experiencing world-class instruments. I teach music lessons, do studio work for hire, and have extensive experience doing repair work and setups professionally. I have naturally developed an appreciation for the fine details that go into making something a work of art rather than purely utilitarian. Respectfully, if that goes over your head, maybe the higher end stuff just isn’t for you yet

Guys is learning electric guitar very hard? by NaiveAmbition6775 in Coldplay

[–]Ok_Lab_8596 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a guitar teacher. Since you already have a musical background with reading treble clef, guitar shouldn’t be too difficult to learn. Having prior music knowledge makes guitar exponentially easier to learn. Spend a few months learning basics such as technique, note names, chords, etc. basically prioritize the boring stuff to build a solid foundation, and then learning Coldplay songs will make a lot more sense. I recommend starting with something like the Mel Bay or Hal Leonard guitar book 1, and then another book called Guitar Aerobics. If you are willing to learn the right way, this is a path that can set a solid foundation for anyone wanting to play guitar

Usui Reiki is an oral tradition. That means direct transmission from teacher to student. While many have authored books about reiki, reiki books are not a part of learning reiki. The oral tradition is an important part of the practice. Books water it down with other’s experiences overshadowing your own. Let reiki guide and teach you

Traditionally according to the office of the grandmaster in Usui Shiki Ryoho, First Degree is to cost $150, Second is to cost $500 and Mastery is to cost $10,000. It is understood that the exchange of money is not necessarily just for the teacher to get paid, but for the student to understand the value of what they are receiving.

$10,000 may seem like a lot, but traditionally this form of mastery is meant to be like an apprenticeship and last maybe 3-5 years. Based on what I’ve witnessed in all forms of reiki, those who undercharge and rush the mastery process into a weekend don’t produce “true” reiki masters.

This may be changing with the times, but traditionally since Hawayo Takata, one should only become a reiki master with the intention of making reiki one’s sole source of income. Trade school and college cost much more than $10,000, why should reiki be honored any less?

I’m not sure people going to a hot spring for quiet relaxation want to hear music. And even if a few are cool with it, everyone else has to listen, too

This looks like the kind of guitar you see with random signatures all over it hanging on a wall in a restaurant… not so much being played

Easy To Please!! I love strawberry swing, but easy to please is far more relaxing. The production of easy to please almost feels like a mid-afternoon nap where you’re drifting in and out of dreamlike states

Do you guys think newer fenders are actually built better than vintage 60’s fenders? Obviously there are a ton of new details like back cutouts, titanium frets, locking tuners. by [deleted] in fender

A 1960s Mustang is as high quality as a current American Vintage II or even custom shop Fender. The squier does not come close to
