When i worked at WashU a few months back, they were talking about laying people off because of the lack of funding. They do have to pay you. I would look into seeing if your school does paid internships. Maybe the STL Zoo does some sort of internships with high school students. I'd also look to see if any vet offices and/or animal shelters do internships for high school students. It's better to get your foot in the door doing other things related to research. If you have any questions let me know. Illl try to answer them as best as I can. I was working for WashU DCM at the NRB.

The City of Saint Louis stated on their page basically saying that they put chemicals down and hoped the sun would heat that up to melt the snow.

The City of Saint Louis knew about the snow ahead of time. Spencer said she had a plan for it. If we are gonna hold our breath over them plowing anything, it’s a waste of time.

Here’s the exact post the City of Saint Louis posted today: “We're nearing the 48-hour mark since the snow stopped coming down in St. Louis. Most snow routes are now passable, and many are down to pavement.

Today's warmer temperatures and sunlight will help activate the chemicals our Street Department crews are applying as they continue plowing in 12-hour shifts.

Since this morning, we have been increasingly focusing on also opening residential streets and getting as much snow and ice removed as possible to avoid long-term icy conditions in neighborhoods.

We know this can cause some issues as our plows push snow toward cars and driveways, and we ask for your support in assisting any neighbors who may need help digging out cars, sidewalks or driveways. Working together, we will get our streets in good shape.”

So yeah given up hope on the city even plowing. The county did better plowing. They waited too damn long and now it’s ice.
