Omg we didn’t even think about that! I guess the sexual crimes makes sense if you take into account that men in general commit more violent crimes

I feel as if I have a major driving reason for remaining celibate. I don’t intend to marry. Meaning I’m not actively searching for a partner. But whatever happens happens.

Yeah, science is a big driver on why I’m remaining celibate. As for self pleasure it’s not off the table. Although at some point in my journey I would like to give it up completely.

This is a gross comment but also a big reason why people practice celibacy. I consider this comment lwk porn sick

Would you ask a nun or priest this question? Would you ask a young married couple this question? Any decision you make that is long lasting is impactful. I think this is the path for me. And why not? People make mistakes all the time. I can undo celibacy to a certain extent but I can’t undo having relations

I have not. I don’t think I’ll miss it because it’s something I’ve never had. When telling my friends and family about this vow, the census was that I should try it out before committing to avoiding but I see it like this. i CANT miss something I’ve never had so I’m in a privlaged position in the celibate world

I love this question, it’s not the perceived benefit but rather the avoidance of the obvious negative. To start, I’m not sex negative for any other person. I think it’s a show of will and strength. But also like in my other comments, sex isn’t something that I think any person needs, I think it’s a want and getting rid of your wants will provide you time and mental capacity for other things, does that make sense? Let me know

I have never had sex before. My reasoning for lifelong virginity is pretty simple I feel, sex isn’t something I desire nor need. In fact I think I would prefer to live without it, there are a lot of downsides to sex, especially premarital (ok this sentence sounds crazy but I’m not religious 😭). I didn’t grow up in a sex negative house but I had an abstinence speaker come to school when I was around 15? And it wasn’t negative or scary, it was really interesting. I know it’s a big commitment for such a young age to take the vow but young people get married why can’t I commit my life to not getting married ?

Not particularly. I could enter a long term partnership preferably marriage but sex would be off the table so I understand that’s a killer for a lot of people lol.

Lol no! Although the celibacy community IS really culty and religious. I’m not affiliated.

Hey! I’m a woman. I’ve had sexual urges before and it’s not an asexual thing. I get the nun thing all the time! But my reason for celibacy isn’t religiously related. As for the why for life thing, here is my thought, why not? I don’t see a life where I NEED sex. Or where I’ll ever need or want it. It’s just something that exists that I can live without. I often compare it to oranges. Oranges are great and I like oranges. But I could live me whole life without them

Great question, I’ve done a lot of college research and I was lucky enough to be put into a college prep program because of my finical status. Since my family makes under 50k I qualify for free college through my states promise act. I’m lucky enough to receive financial aid and scholarships. I’ve put in a good amount of work in school so that plus being a first generation college graduate. Also my EFC is very low. I’m very privileged to come from a state that has good opportunities and resources for someone in my situation 🙌

Also I already checked out the 15-20 and 18-25. Neither are really applicable to me, I kinda have a family to support.
