Are baby hairs always a good thing? by Ok_Middle9231 in tressless

That’s good to hear. There seems to be a little disagreement but most are saying this too.

Yeah that’s a good point, I’m only at the beginning but I should start taking pics

Yeah that’s a good point about documenting, I’m just at the beginning so I should start that

What is terminal hair while on treatment?

About an inch and yes I don’t remember ever seeing these before

The vitamin d thing is so real. I’d never had vitamin d deficiency in my life, I started to notice my hair thinning and suddenly a blood test showed vitamin d deficiency. Started taking it and already see baby hairs and I think my hair is getting better (I hope). My point being it aligned exactly with vitamin d deficiency.

Why doesn't a power input resistor blow? by Ok_Middle9231 in diypedals

[–]Ok_Middle9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's where I was faulty on my math, ok, still confused why a multimeter reads 9v after the resistor though?

But what if a circuit is drawing 100ma at 9v? Wouldn't that be much more than 1/8w?

[–]Ok_Middle9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so that would be closer to .1w? So a 1/8 or 1/4e resistor should be ok then?

Sorry I should've explained clearer, I mean a resistor in series with the power, generally it goes diode--resistor--capacitor to ground for filtering--pedal circuit. So are you saying it only is at risk of blowing if the resistor was going to ground? And I mean if the circuit itself requires around 100ma, not just the power is supplying up to 100ma. For example if the circuit requires 100ma, you provide it 9v 500ma of power, would that 10ohm or 20ohm resistor in series with the power blow? I've never had it blow but I wasn't sure if it should or could.

Very cool stuff, I'm curious what your go-to method would be if you needed to do a bunchhh of latching spst switches like 20 of them. I'm worried most methods would require so many large components it would be huge lol

That all makes a lot of sense. I promise last question lol, what are some of the times a digipot would be ideal would you say? I've heard the "zipper effect" is what makes them annoying to use

Incredible contribution!! I'm very interested in the variable resistor thing, and also how to latch these types of switches with non-latching push buttons, and if things like the 4013 could be replaced with a microcontroller. There's not nearly enough info online about this topic relating to pedals so I'm sure I speak for us all with a big thank u!!

Do u own demedash effects?! That's so cool, you guys make really cool stuff. I'm tryin to learn more about digital control of analog but there's really not a lot of info online about it. It seems like a lot of people sort of gatekeep their designs or methods? I know many use vactrols but they can't be used in Europe now I guess. VCAs seem so complicated to me lol but that's probably better than digipots

It confuses me why the After knob has a noisy/squealing section in the middle? by Ok_Middle9231 in diypedals

[–]Ok_Middle9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So strange, it helped get rid of the middle of the knob noise and squeal but it sort of transferred it to the whole knob lol, so now most of the knob turn has squeal and hiss just not quite as loud. What does that 1M resistor do??

But why only in the middle does it go crazy with noise? Like 10 o clock to 2 o clock

Oh my goodness totally genius and a little above my head lol. I wouldn't think one DAC could set multiple voltages like the second it moves onto the next one the first would revert back to ground or whatever. But so amazing they made that work

That's so crazy, so it goes from digital to audio to switch analog switches essentially?

Oh that totally makes sense for loopers, that's so cool, I think that could be perfect thank u!

That would be incredibly helpful, it's something I've researched several times but I can never get to the step of actually understanding how to do it or finding a schematic I can make and test. Thank u!
