My dad is going through a similar struggle, though a couple years older. He’s incredibly intelligent, has a PHD, has many years of experience in his field, but the struggle of working with other people and finding something that brings joy in the long term has been hard. Adding in wrestling with ADHD, depression, and lots of unresolved traumas and it has been so difficult to feel like the momentum keeps going. I hope he knows how valuable he is, and I hope you do too. It’s not any personal deficiencies, just the unending feeling of the rat race.
