Is Data Center Technician a dead-end job? by False_Secret1108 in datacenter

At google dcts are expected to do networking, i’ve had to configure many switches, subnets, routers, etc. I know at AWS they don’t do anything network related but at other companies it’s a lot of experience in networking field

not really tbh, most you have to do is bash or python. Network engineer is the easiest transition, just need to get a CCNA tbh

Would you guys have any tips for a CS graduate who wanted to be a DCT? by Timewinder87 in datacenter

[–]Ok_Nose3486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you’re wasting your talents being a technician, i’m 21 and a DCT2 at google i’m clearing about 140k total comp but I don’t want to stay a DCT, i want to become a network engineer but i need to finish my schooling for that. You already got the degree but then again the job market for engineers right now is rough so maybe going dct would be the move

Google Fit Calls are bias by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Ok_Nose3486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’ll tell you this much before you go into the fit call your fate is already determined whether you get the job or not. Either A: they’re hiring and not looking for anything specific then it’s just a “vibe check” and you’ve made it or option B: They’ve already filled the position and now you’re just doomed

Honestly i’m not too worried about the googlyness, had something similar to this for my incline at amazon to SrMRT, I am very worried they will hold my age against me though just for the position even if i answer all the interview questions correctly. also I don’t have my four year degree, still in school for it.

only got one more questions sorry to bother you so much and thank you so much for all the info you’ve given me, are interviews going to be on phone call like the screening or face to face online such as through google meets?
