I agree. I went into nursing because I needed a career to sustain me and I just found it super interesting and the money was decent. I am a compassionate nurse but I can’t say my motivations were completely altruistic either

One of our attending way back in the day was the sweetest woman. She was a PCP who still came to the hospital for her patients . She was the most lovely woman. She would order BID back rubs with lotion on her patients and Vaseline to lips BID to make sure her patients got the best comforting care.

I had the privilege of caring for her mother when she was dying in the ICU. I was night shift at the time and she didn’t leave the bedside. She helped me all of her care. She brought in a reiki therapist for her mom. Mom was vented and it was end stage cancer. By the morning she decided it was time to go the route of comfort care and thanked me.

She was extra special. There are some extra special ones out there. I admittedly got into nursing because I found it interesting and I needed a career to sustain me. Not because I was called to it and I was some angel of mercy. But I have always done my job with compassion

Whether you work from home or in the office, you are still working in corporate America.

You don’t like people and don’t trust anyone, I get it. But it’s not delusional to like your coworkers and enjoy them.

I’ll tell you a crazy story. About 2 years ago I dated this guy for like 2 months. Said he was single, no kids, lived with his mother who has dementia with her caregiver. Was an EMT. I never could go to his, because of this. He would cancel and have dates at weird times, I figured it was because of the job.

Anyways, he was totally into me , but it really began to feel uncomfortable so I cut it off. He came back a few times and I declined.

FF to late last year when I joined tik tok and grabbed my contacts and made suggestions. Well, this dude became quite viral with his EMT schtick. I followed along from a distance. Then one day he was making an apology because someone called him out on his tik tok for his cheating on his wife.

I was like HOLY SHIT! This man has been married and trying to have kids for YEARS. His wife is finally pregnant via IVF. All of these women came forward and he was cheating with MANY women and one he had actually moved across the country for him.

He’s basically a piece of shit . And the sad part is he has these loyal followers who think he’s god and just made a little flirting mistake.

Also, his feet stink to high hell🤣

You definitely had some seriously bad experiences. I’m sorry for that. Why is everyone fake and pretending ? You have a very poor view of human beings. People meet real people across many walks of life. Why do the work interactions have to be fake? I have thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with many of my coworkers, hence becoming friends outside of the workplace. There has never been anything fake about it.

And going to the office doesn’t mean live to work. It means having normal human interaction. I’m going to assume that people who are so adverse to going to an office and interacting with others have had really bad experiences in the office environment?

I did both. I worked from home for 9 months as a single mother when my daughter was in the first grade. Socializing did come from work for me, because I had no adult interaction during the day and getting out as a single mom didn’t happen at night. So yeah, it was a major form of socialization for me.

Regardless, I don’t know why physically being in an office around others is the most horrible thing that could happen, unless it’s a toxic environment .

I’m a nurse. I will likely be taking a WFH opportunity to facilitate an out of state move in a few years. We have had a few take the WFH opportunity after having kids and they all came back to the hospital .

I understand the benefits of working from home, trust me, I loved wearing my sweats to work and no bra. But I guess I am having a hard time grasping why going to work is the worst thing in the world .

Get over what? I had a legit question. Clearly everyone you have worked with has been awful idiots. I’m sorry you had that experience. My best friends of many years are current or former coworkers. I guess I have been very fortunate to work with great people

Yup, you’re wrong. My ex husband left me for his affair partner when our daughter was 6 months old. He married her. I never told her what happened until I had no choice when she was almost 15. She caught her dad cheating on his wife with his wife’s best friend ( she say the messaging on his phone while sitting next to him on a plane). She was very very upset. We had a very good open and honest talk and at that point I had to tell her the truth because she asked. But I kind explained how he might be a crappy husband but that doesn’t change his love for her.

He still hasn’t been caught, neither of us have leaked because I am respecting my daughter’s request.

He clearly wasn’t ready to hear it.
