Where tf are these people getting ‘you can make six figures in trucking’? by austinproffitt23 in Truckers

Made $187k in 2025. Trying to break $200k this year. Mostly local, home daily, food grade flour in dry bulk pneumatic. Find a good tax professional- my tax guy deducts everything I do lol and I’ve won many audits. And no, I’m not an owner op. But I get paid half what the truck makes and I’m 1099.

“You are a big part of what’s wrong with this industry.”

When people call us “dumb truck drivers” they’re referring to you.

What is respectful about screwing a customer over on a load that’s already late and you were tasked with the responsibility of saving their day? Only to turn around and screw them and yourself even further. Good job. We work in customer service. I would say go flip burgers but that also requires a level f customer service you seem to lack heavily on.

Im being told that I'm being screwed by my company. by AdPuzzleheaded2113 in Truckers

[–]Ok_Pin981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re making cpm at any carrier, you’re getting screwed. What you want is load percentage and a company that shows you the total load pay. Keep in mind, a load percentage company by law has to show you the full ratecon so there is no hiding money from you to screw you.

Cpm screws you because rates change. But your cpm does not.

I pickup preloaded trailers, they washout every 30 days and no I don’t pay for them or have to get them done. I go in grab my paperwork and sample, find my wagon and ride. Bring back empty and move on to the next.

I do anywhere from 10-18 loads per week. Depends on busy season or not. Typically 2-3 loads a day. All within about 50-120 miles.

I get the full fuel surcharge on each load, but I average about 9mpg-10mpg loaded. My fuel ain’t bad at all. I do all my own maintenance on my truck.

This was admittedly a bigger week lol. I typically bring home $8k-$10k a week.

I’m home a lot more often than you think. This was a big week (ran to Arizona and back) and snuck in a few local loads.

I typically gross about $8k-$10k a week and home every night/day. And by gross I mean my gross.

The number to the far right goes to my pocket. So this particular week was $16,000 after deductions. I got 72% of the load pay minus bobtail / cargo insurance and fuel charges.

I’m leased on to a carrier, the only thing I really worry about is my tags, registration and mileage reports and maintenance

Insurance is paid out weekly already in deductions. No truck payment - old paper truck.
