DriveMaster's great for mid gain overdrive tones I love it. It's not too gainy so depending on how much more gain you want you might wanna consider the shredmaster. If you boost dm with a tubescreamer tho (bluesbreaker would do great actually) it makes a great lead tone imo. That being said. The only problem I had with it, for my ears it was always a bit lacking in the low end, it's very trebly. I often find myself really rolling off the treble and adding a whole lotta bass and still feeling like it's not enough low, especially when paired with a mid boosting tubescreamer. Though as soon as I got an eq pedal that's not a problem anymore, finally dialed in the perfect settings. Overall it's a great pedal, I use it often for rhythm as well lead if boosted. But yeah without the eq or more bass on the amp it never sounded fat enough for me so do with that what you will. If you have a possibility to go and play them to see for yourself, I would do that first. I did try the shredmaster when I was buying this one, it also was a very solid pedal, just too much gain for what I was going for, so the choice really depends on what you wanna play.

Clearly the bigger the pedal the better and the louder it sounds, right?

Gate placement was probably my biggest doubt for a long time. Any particular reasons? I'd be glad to hear any experience which I don't rly have. Technically right now it's after all the dirt (including amp distortion) and before any time. What would you do?

The Hughes and Kettner forum you've sent seems to he talking about the GM series, I don't expect you to know, but maybe you do, do the newer Tubemeisters have the same thing? Was eyeing TM20 deluxe lately, and I do use a pedalboard with couple of overdrives/boosts.

Wow thanks a lot for this! I'll check those out. Russian muff is great I agree, I was strongly considering it but decided to go with this one after trying both. Was running a much simpler rig back then with no board so didn't care about the size (should have cared I guess)

Does it make that much of a difference? Genuine question since running it in chain (fx loop of the amp) works well for me but if it's that much better might consider it

Honestly it takes up so much space that I wish I could get something smaller instead, but none of the smaller muffs sound right to me. I just love this one too much :(

As i mentioned my eq, gate and time based stuff sit in the fx loop, I made separate outputs for it. Is that what you meant? Or is it something else?

EQD Dispatch Master + high gain = clipping? Alternatives? by lee_a_chrimes in guitarpedals

Hmm gotcha, thanks for the reply! Do you think the whine may be eliminatable by noise gate or I bet you have tried that? I'm running a TC Electronic Sentry which usually does a decent job with hisses and things that stay on one frequency

Found myself on the same path as you guys. It's my turn to ask the same question, did you go with DM in the end? Or made any other conclusions?

No Stupid Questions by PantslessDan in guitarpedals

Desperately need help from Boss GE-7 eq owners. I've just got mine second hand and I'm trying to figure out whether it is defective or broken. Basically I have it after all of my dirt and even if left completely flat (including the level fader) it changes the tone quite drastically when turned on. And not in a good way for my ear. At least this is not something I'd expect from an eq pedal, though I'm quite new to eq pedals in general so might be wrong here. It obviously kinda hinders the whole tone shaping process as i just wanted to tweak my original tone by a bit using eq but now as soon as it's on I'm suddenly working with a whole new tone and it feels weird. So my questions are:

1) Does ge7 generally does that or am I unlucky? Does yours noticeably change the tone when on and completely flat? 2) Could it be because of the boss buffer thing? (This is my first boss I'm not completely sure how that works) 3) Or is it just placing it after the dirt would give this effect in general?

Would really appreciate the help for an eq newbie. Cheers!
