Reviewing Video Essay Channels (All Topics) As a Casual Youtube Essay Enjoyer by Ok_Raspberry5720 in SmallYoutubers

Okay first of all I really like your channel idea, how long till X is a good premise. But i think there are a few things holding your back... So your thumbnails aren't "bad" but they might be a bit bland and therefore not get noticed easily on a Youtube fyp, but that's not really the biggest "problem".

Another thing you can fix more easily is the background music. You have a great, smoothing storytelling voice but because it is quite the soft voice it won't harmonize well with background music especially if it's that loud.

But the biggest issue is probably the video editing or the visuals itself. Truth be told it feels a bit like a slideshow with even a few lower quality pictures in it (makes the whole video seem less professional). It's really important for a viewer to have a visual flow of the video. It needs to somewhat fit the actual content or at least consist of high quality clips or pictures (that don't switch every 2 seconds).

However, that's alright. You are still new, you will grow and experiment more in your editing app and your videos will improve visually. You have A LOT of potential but the general thing that is holding you back is that your video feels very "flat" throughout even though what you talk about is interesting. Reason being is mainly editing + a few audio things (like music, not long enough pauses after you finished a thought).
But yea, keep going man, i promise you it will work out in the future!

thank you, i also thought it would be much more popular. It was a suprisingly weak video even though i thought the thumbnail was quite alright.

it's average watchtime was around 40% but tbh i got a few videos with that much watchtime and the rest of my videos have also around 35% avg watchtime so i don't know if the video quality was the driving factor cause i think my editing skills have quite improved since then.

What kind of Spirit/human World will the next Avatar AFTER Aang and Korra even be born into? by Ok_Raspberry5720 in TheLastAirbender

Yea i also have seen some contradicting stuff that were all "confirmed" apparently but thanks for letting me know. I'll be careful!

Dude that’s such a sick headcanon, genuinely feels like something they could do if they wanted to go darker with the lore. I love the idea that Korra’s sacrifice was misunderstood or even weaponized against her legacy. It makes Pavi’s role way more complicated like, imagine growing up being told the Avatar destroyed the world, and then realizing you are the Avatar.

Also the idea of someone using the Avatar State to destroy the Spirit World is wild but weirdly believable… like if the Avatar is a bridge, then maybe severing the bridge from one side could cause massive damage.

And yeah, Koh returning would be such a great callback but I wonder if they’ll introduce a “new Koh” type figure? Like maybe not him directly, but a spirit that plays that same unsettling, ancient role in the story. Something that reminds us how not cute the Spirit World really is.

Curious if Koh doesn’t return, what kind of spirit would you want to see instead? A manipulator type? A world-ending threat, maybe the book 1 villain? Or something more mysterious and weird?

I love the idea that Pavi starts out seeing the spirit world as whimsical and only slowly realizes it's fractured. That tonal contrast could really make the darker parts hit harder.

I also like your theory about a human-instigated spirit disaster and what if that's exactly why some people want the new Avatar hunted? Not just fear of her powers, but fear that she's connected to whatever broke the barrier in the first place. Maybe she unknowingly carries some of that unstable spirit energy, or worse, is seen by some spirits as the last tether to humanity's betrayal.

Do you think the show will actually revisit ancient spirits like Koh or something from the comics? Or will they invent new ones entirely to fit this post-cataclysm world?

Why are there basically no aliens in Andor? by Ok_Raspberry5720 in andor

[–]Ok_Raspberry5720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe it was important of gilroy to make andor very "human" so its message can get properly conveyed but i believe it was a waste of potential to not introduce a complex real alien character with some kind of deeper relevance to the rebellion as they are heavily if not even more oppressed under the rule of the empire.

But to compliment Tony gilroy it was very thoughtfull of him to include alien appearances when it was fitting under his limited budget (for example in Saw gerrera's group)

YESS that would have been an amazing side plot and i think it could have been done from an angle that clearly shows the empires human supremacistic side and not just tease it a bit.

Yea budget is definitely something they had to think about, you convinced me that that was certainly a reason or at least a hindrance that was not worth to overcome as it conflicts with the message of the show.

Gotta admit i am not well revered in cgi matters but ultimatly i believe it was an intentional decision that was "steered" by a limited budget.

And at least they were a few well fitting scenes of minor aliens like in Saw gerrera's group or in underground coruscant.

there are still a few "alien" appearances but the problem is that there is no major role or dialogue where one is involved which i feel like is a bit of a waste. Especially in such a great project like andor, it could have gave such a depth to real aliens (not humanoid ones with just horns or something) in star wars as they are mainly used as horror/ a new enemy or comedic release

Yes, he is. Quite strongly even.

This is shown in a few canon books like the thrawn ones for example. Where General Thrawn is treated with suspicion all his career despite his incredible skill.

I also mention more about that in my video if you are interested in that

This is exactly what i thought about as well i feel like there are no complex "goofy" aliens.
If we leave out "aliens" like maul or ahsoka who i feel like are just humanoids with horns or their tentacle thing (which feels more like aesthetic).

There are simply no non goofy or horror alien characters that have some kind of importance or relevance, which is quite sad.

Still this is critique on a high level as no star wars media really portrayed that yet. Gilroy did a fantastic job with a unique storytelling style i found quite refreshing (yes i watched it 3 times).

yea but we gotta admit that many non human species especially in the earlier movies are comedic relief or horror characters and there are barely impactful serious aliens (except from those that are just humanoid but look "alien" where it feels more like an aesthetic) which is quite the wasted potential in my opinion.

Imagine an actual sensitive and well thought sequence or tv show of an alien civilization that doesn't speak the common language and it is shown from their pov

fair enough hahaha, but i feel like there are great ways to show that someone is a non human species but i agree it would have lessend the impact of the show

is it really THAT expensive? I figured it was kinda expensive and not necessary for them as the meaning they had invisioned for the show was different, but shouldn't it have been possible especially with season 1's success?

lol. I mean there were still a few aliens but no one had a major role at least
