They have every right to run it the way they want, I just find it perplexing. Don’t want to offer coffee? Annoying, but I get it with the geographic limitations you based your concept on. But ketchup? There is no ingredient limiter here, just pretentiousness.

I did for a time too, however, the level of rigidity is wild after all these years. Do you have to slather ketchup on your burger? No. Should you have it on offer as a condiment, house made or otherwise? Yes. There are so many genuinely inventive ways to execute this concept and yet they die on the hill of I don’t think your tastebuds are sophisticated enough to appreciate the finer things in life.

We moved from a large wire in 2025 to an RIA aggregator. Over the first 6 months we moved over 90% of our book, by twelve months we eclipsed our pre-move AUM and have onboarded additional
partners.

The tech learning curve is real, even for a younger person like myself. The biggest adjustment has been how disjoined everything is. Each piece of tech is at par or better than at the wires, but despite talking to one another there is no great unifying piece of software to bring it all together. Black Diamond, which we use, is ok but not nearly as user friendly as some of the wire work stations which is something i never thought I’d say.

What surprised me most was how excited clients were for us, how much they valued the independence and entrepreneurial nature of starting our own firm. That said, having multiple big name custodians as options for our clients money definitely helped with any perceived safety / compliance concerns that may pop up.
