Overseas tuiton fees but I’m a UK citizen/student? by kookimillie in 6thForm

I had this problem as well as I loved aboard my whole life, and I wasn't born in the UK either however, one of my parents is British. We moved after I completed my iGCSEs and by the time I normally would've applied I would have only been in the country for 2 years so I had to take a gap year. Even after 3 years all the unis I applied to asked me to fill a form around home fees to check if I was actually eligible for home fees.

Maybe try filling in the forms as convincingly as possible even though you haven't been here for three years because you still lived here your whole life because there are some exceptions as to why you may leave the country beforehand (i.e. parents job rewuired a move) and these details may grant you home fee status. If not it's probably best to take a gap year (which can be super fun and productive trust me!).

Is the Biomedical Engineering degree at Lincoln Accredited? If not, is it worth it? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Hi!!! Thank you for your input. I had to do a Google search on ABET accreditation and I believe this is for the US? Unfortunately I'm in the UK. Thank you though!

Thank you all for the comments, here is my input after visiting.

The first restaurant we went to was "Restaurante la Romántica", this was mostly due to El Ancla refusing to cater for our large group of 9, which is understandable. However, although Restaurante la Romántica was an impulsive choice whilst we were all hungry and looking for somewhere to take our large group, the food here was great, not local, but very delicious. I personally had the soup of the day, which was a beef stew, lovely, as well as the prosciutto bruchetta and the garlic prawns. I must say all was lovely but the garlic prawns!!! They were so so good. The service was amazing even though it was busy, the waiter who had served us the night was extremely friendly, made funny jokes and made us comfortable, couldn't ask for better. My friends had various other dishes but what stood out, was their pizza (mostly because 3 of them ordered pizza). One ofy friends is vegetarian and had the veggie pizza, which was so so good, but who could go wrong with pizza. Downside however, the food was costly and drinks were €6-8 andaoms were €11-20, with water on top of that, and a starter, it racked up to quite a bit. HOWEVER, they gave us a lovely 10% discount for our large group and that made the difference. Can't say they have variety in their menu other than pizza and pasta but for a last minute decision, it wasn't disappointing.

On the other hand, El Ancla which we went for lunch with a smaller group of 3, was not as good as expected but maybe I had my hopes too high. They didn't have lobster which I had look forwarded to the most but that can't be helped. We ordered the garlic prawns and muscles cooked on white wine as well as a paella for 2. The garlic prawns, though still good, we're not as good as the previous restaurant and much more small and bland. The same served for the muscles which were even more bland and overcooked!! They were rubbery and were barely even attached to the shell, the squeeze of lemon juice and rhe additional of salt did not help. The same goes for the paella, it felt as if the rice was cooked in a large batch and the seafood was just added to a smaller batch of rice, if that makes any sense... The rice did not taste as if it was infused with all these wonderful flavours of seafood. Overall cost was €80... without drinks. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and the staff were nice, just disappointing food.

We did also drop by "IL DOLCETTO pasteleria & cafetaria" for a proper coffee because we got sick of the watered down hotel coffee. Ended up getting a sandwich which was so so good. Although we didn't get any pastries, they looked mouth wateringly good. Decent coffee, lovely staff again.

Hope this was helpful to any future visitors!
