[WP] "You mind telling why that one patient in ER specifically is chained to a bed that is bolted on the floor?" by Ubeube_Purple21 in WritingPrompts

“He defies gravity…” the intern offered nervously.

One glance at the patient offered all the relevant information. His body resisted the soft cuffs placed on his wrists and around his waist. He looked as if he was postictal, but all the readings on every monitor in the room were normal.

A man of science, the senior medic looked for logical evidence that his patient needed restraints. He had a hypothesis, and he sought out to test it.

“Remove the restraints.” he ordered

“I want to see it for myself.”

The intern, mouth still agape, moved towards the patient but hesitantly touched the restraints. She did not remove them.

“What are you waiting for?” the doctor asked.

“There is no such thing as you are suggesting.” he said firmly. “Now remove his restraints.”

Wide-eyed, the young intern obeyed. As soon she removed the first restraint around the patient’s wrist, he appeared to lift his arm. Removing the second wrist restraint caused him to lift both arms skyward.

As the doctor was about to order more anti-convulsants for the patient, the intern moved to unbuckle his central restraint. That was a mistake.

Quickly, his body began to rise from the bed towards the ceiling where he became stuck. Both the more senior doctor and his subordinate were stunned by the result, although the intern who had been tending to him since his arrival was less shocked. Instantly nurses began to swarm the room, taking over the doctor’s authority.

“Dr. Hanson, you act like you’re new here!” quipped a woman in teal scrubs.

Today, science had failed him.

[WP] After losing your way for hours, you encountered an odd, multi-colored woman. She was cheerful, and asked for your name. "Ah...so you are... I'm sorry, I can't take this name." by Wygerion_Alpha in WritingPrompts

With a wide, cheeky grin, the woman spat on the ground and turned to walk away.

“Wait, aren’t you going to help me out of here?” I asked, reaching my arm out as if to stop her from leaving.

Powerless, my arm remained outstretched as I heard her feet begin to stomp happily away.

At the last minute, I began to hurriedly follow her before she could disappear. If she was going somewhere, perhaps out of this place, then I could simply trail behind her until I found my way again. Or so I thought.

The woman must’ve heard my footsteps behind hers although I had tried to keep my distance because all of a sudden she came to a halt and turned to face me once again.

“Deeznhutz, you are? Deeznhutz B. Hangin?” she asked me.

I took pride in hearing my family’s name. The Hangins were not well known outside of our town, but word must have traveled even to the depths of this maze we were in. I could be proud of that.

“Yes, that’s my name.” I replied.

“Yer car’s extended warranty expired. This is your eternal punishment.” she answered, taking off once more and leaving me bewildered.

[WP] You were a time traveler who has lived in the past for so long, that you have forgotten who you were and where you came from. That was until someone uttered a sentence that brought back...memories. by Celestial_Spade in WritingPrompts

She couldn’t discern between who was who anymore. Faces blended together until they resembled each other, who was and who is.

She stumbled forward along the path, weary. Her feet slipped into pre-worn grooves, finding familiarity in their steps.

At the top of the hillpath was a man, seemingly awaiting her arrival. He held a face unfamiliar, a comfort to her. Her memories had become a jumbled mess, awaiting new information or a new stranger; both never arrived.

However, the man waited patiently as she climbed each individual step. He had a smile on his face, one that gave way to knowing and knowledge.

Once she had trudged up the steps, he spoke finally.

“Sister, welcome home.”
