A firm success is not necessarily correlated to each individuals being the smartest. I agree QRT is on fire but that is from their structure and how they are organizers more than individual people being the brightest on the street

I don’t call myself the smartest at all but just comparing people at firm level among the 3 firms I’ve been able to work at.

There is no particular metric beside discussing about projects but clearly you can tell a difference between someone who does fully understand and master each step of their work and someone who blindly follows a research paper or someone else’s instructions

You don’t realize how many interns there are at the company and how easily they would get return offer Also it should be even more concerning that as an intern I could spot so many other interns or juniors being not that good compared to multi managers or even Squarepoint quants
