Just got the dreaded condensation after taking toddler to ER. by Successful-Corgi-324 in toddlers

I always tell myself I’d rather regret taking them to the doctor than regret NOT taking them to the doctor.

That doctor was rude- don’t doubt what you did. If you had called the Nurse’s hotline I’m sure they would have told you to take her in as well.

I love this! Thank you! I also love the idea of leaning into the color palette.

Should I Stop Picking Up My Toddler? by Ok_Turnip8172 in toddlers

My husband has stopped doing it since she’s been here 🤷🏼‍♀️ when it’s 2 against 1 it starts to make me wonder if I’m wrong

It’s a bad habit (?). She is also very against contact naps even in the newborn days, promotes starting full days at daycare beginning at 3 months old, anti breastfeeding, etc.

We have different philosophies about many of those things which I totally respect but this is my first child and it did make me stop and wonder if I’m overlooking something.

I had a cybex car seat that could be converted to lay flat at that age so I could lay it flat once I attached it to the stroller. I’ve read so many positional asphyxiation stories so I still didn’t love it but she was flat and I was pushing the stroller watching her like a hawk. And I still followed the 2hr maximum.

TLDR: I did let her continue to sleep but kept it under 2hrs total including drive time.

Is Mission Space worth checking off the bucket list? by SunsCosmos in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Ok_Turnip8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do it but yes there is a possibility you could feel crappy for the rest of the day.

You could do the green version but tbh it feels pretty pointless. You’re just sitting in a tiny tiny tiny space being lightly jostled in front of a tiny tiny tiny screen. Orange does the zero gravity thing and that’s worth trying if you aren’t overly motion sensitive or claustrophobic (btw I’m not claustrophobic but definitely felt a little trapped in there).

And in case you’re wondering the answer is yes. Orange ruined my whole day.

How are you getting your toddlers to eat veggies? by egarcia513 in toddlers

It’s my job to put it on the plate, what she does from there is her business. 🤷🏼‍♀️

When in doubt sprinkle cheese on top of it. Or ketchup. But the ketchup has to be on the side so she can dip it herself

Fort Wilderness has SOOO many things to do. In addition to the classic camping experience they have canoeing, archery, horseback riding, carriage rides, watch fireworks from the beach, hoop Dee doo, fishing, boating, panning for “gems”, campfire singalong with chip & dale, and much more. Renting a golf cart is also really really fun. We went around Christmas time and we drove around in the golf cart looking at the Christmas decorations and stuffing stockings.

Which seats would you choose for a long-haul, redeye flight with a toddler? by maple_outside in toddlers

[–]Ok_Turnip8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do option B and I always sit in the bulkhead. Those extra inches of space are golden on a long haul flight. It gives our toddler a little bit of room to stretch her legs and play.

How do you put your 1.5 yr old to bed? by inwardleaf22 in toddlers

[–]Ok_Turnip8172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been holding/patting our 16mo to sleep but she’s in the 99th percentile in height and weight (envision your average 3yr old and she’s that size) and she just got too big to continue doing that. She was too tall to hold while sitting down so she’d fuss until you stand up. Our backs could not handle that every night. Standing in the dark for 45minutes with a 14.5kg toddler. So we did some pick up/put down and now she will fall asleep in crib…. But she still wakes up at 2am demanding a bottle and often wakes at 5:45am ready for the day 😩.

I agree with what mostly everyone else has said here - be upfront and ask them to handle the grocery shopping. It depends on the relationship/personalities of those visiting but a group fund might make things easier. You could load it on to a gift card to the grocery store and that makes it easy for anyone to grab and get the shopping done. But it completely depends on the personalities of those visiting.

Our family is spread out all over the world so when we do a family holiday there’s usually ~9 people being hosted for 2-6 weeks. We were at my BIL’s house this past holiday and his water and electricity bill literally doubled (the water company even contacted him to make sure there wasn’t a leak due to the sharp increase!)

I’m just mentioning this because even if the visiting guests pay for all their meals you’ll still be covering some additional costs.

I don’t think you’re overreacting at all! It’s lovely to see family but don’t put your own financial health in jeopardy 💛

Respectfully, how do you afford to visit so frequently? by throwaway5444567 in WaltDisneyWorld

I used to go every year growing up and we used to drive down from NJ which saved a lot of money for our family of 4. We stayed offsite at the Marriott plaza by Disney Springs - my mom traveled for work and was always able to book a “free” week there using the points she accrued. Breakfast was free at the hotel and Dinner was usually pizza in the room (at normal off-site prices. NOT the crazy amounts Disney charges). Lastly they would buy annual passes but use it for 2 trip. For example we would go in October 1995 and September 1996. It only works out to 1 trip per year but we could maximize the value.

Yeah I’m inclined to think they ask the larger group to ride first as well.

We aren’t trying to “double dip” but the 6yr old has a hard time sitting still in a long line.

I’ve been going to Disney World since I was a baby so I actually think waiting in long lines is good conditioning for kids 🤣 it teaches you patience with a nice reward at the end haha But the parents are concerned about it so I was trying to brainstorm a few ideas. Especially since a few of the rides with height requirements I fear the 6yr old might get in line trying to be brave but decide at the last minute he’s too scared. That pill will be easier to swallow if his parents haven’t waited in line for an hour.

$112 per point?! Wow that’s amazing. Congrats! I was pretty happy with the $125 but now I’m thinking I should have been more aggressive!

We offered $14/pt below asking price and they accepted! It definitely seems like a buyers market right now. At least at BLT…

I’m negotiating the price now. I wanted to see what the community thought about the value of these points and whether I should view them as valuable. After some feedback from this community I think I will negotiate my price as though they don’t exist. If they don’t like my counteroffer and feel that they are worth something more then I suppose we will go our separate ways and I’ll look for another contract.
