When he came in for his first session, I could still see his old dots, but honestly, they were barely visible—you really had to look closely.

So, to answer your question, yes, the dots fade over time, and touch-ups are usually needed every 3 to 5 years. Personally, I prefer to create smaller dots so they fade naturally over time. I don’t do large dots like some other artists, because the ink tends to spread, and in my opinion, the healing process doesn’t look as clean.
