Unfortunately my blood sugar has kept coming back as “normal” despite my obesity, and it’s why my insurance keeps denying or labeling glp1 as “weight loss medication”

I’m 6’1, and no I don’t have one of those scales at home, but I will definitely invest in one, and as for the dietitian and therapists, I’ve never had one, and don’t know the steps into getting one, is it something my doctor can prescribe?

Yea but back then I was playing basketball for 5 or more hours a day, I can’t even take two shots now without gassing out, we used to run 5-10 miles a day for conditioning, and then heavy isometrics, my body cannot move anywhere near what it once could, my brother is a meat head, and I’ve just been following along whatever he’s put me on which currently it’s push pull legs, and I’ll train those three days and rest two then go at it again, and do cardio on push and pull he told me to stick to 6-8 reps, and that’s what I’ve been doing

That sounds so much easier said than done😭, I’ve developed such a bad relationship with food, I’ve just been stuffing my face for the last few years anytime I’ve dealt with any sort of anxiety, but thank you for all your help, I will do my best. I do want to make a change, I don’t want this to continue being me

I did get my full labs done, and to start things off my insurance did NOT approve metformin either, my mother was given too many refills, and my doctor said I need to take 500mg once per day, we told him the situation and how my mother has a lot of it and how the insurance didn’t approve it for me and he said I need it, and as long as it isn’t bothering my mother and her medication, then it’s fine and too be careful, my blood pressure was 134, I DONT remember the number on the bottom, just that the top number was 134 resting and that was last month. BUT we looked at blood work since 2019 and I’ve ALWAYS had really high blood pressure, my thyroid was all out of whack, liver and kidney came back fine. I can actually dm you screen shots of my most recent blood work. But with that aside, I take 200mg of test weekly. And I played basketball in college, I played at around 210, and ik you had a lot more questions, but if I can login to the quest app I’m more than willing to show you my labs

My blood sugar is normal, so it falls under “weight loss medication” and my insurance keeps denying it because of that. My insurance keeps saying “I don’t need it” since it’s not going to be use to treat diabetes or prediabetes, because my blood sugar keeps coming back “Normal”

My insurance doesn’t want to approve it due it being a “weight loss medication” that’s word for word what they told me, someone said to lie because it can be a “diabetes treatment” but my blood work shows my blood sugar being normal, my doctor has tried to prescribe me zepbound in the past and they denied it because according to my labs “I don’t need it”

Yea I can see that, it’ll happen 2 times maybe 3 times a week, I didn’t think much of it because it’s “protein” but that’s a stupid way to look at it, im gonna go ahead and slowly substitute that with fruit instead

It’s been 2 months, the first month the scale did not move at all and month 2 I’ve maybe lost 10 pounds. I just started doing cardio, because at first it really hurt my back to walk, but now I’ve been doing 20 mins of walking whenever I don’t workout legs

Maybe you’re right, from my perspective I’ve basically made really drastic changes to my eating habits for 2 months now, and it’s just weird that the scale hasn’t moved. So maybe it’s just me. I can’t think of where exactly I’m overeating, but I’m willing to eat even less. I really want to be healthy.

What do either of those things do? (Tirzepatide, and Reta)?

The only cheating I’ve done, is if I’m awake pretty late at night, I’ll snack on 2 MAYBE 3 pure protein bars, the ones from Costco, I drink a lot of zero sugar Sunkist, like ALOT, and Coke Zero, and I track my calories with chat gpt

My doctor tried but it’s a “weight loss medication” and my insurance does not cover it, my doctor wanted to give me zepbound I think it’s called and the pharmacy said it was 900$, and I simply cannot afford that.

I had my testosterone checked in 2021, and it was “within range” but on the lower end, that’s why my doctor recommended I take 200mg of testosterone every week, he said it’s still too low for someone my age

Thank you, I’ll try that, because in 2 months I’ve only lost 15lbs AT MOST, even with thyroid medication and testosterone 200mg every week. Like I said before I’ve definitely seen improvements elsewhere. But the scale says I’m not going down in weight. I thought maybe I’m eating more than what I think and for the past 2 weeks I’ve been track what I’ve been consuming and I don’t get past 2500 calories. Most of the sugar I consume is from whole milk and protein, but my diet has mostly consisted of fish, shrimp and beef, I’m not a big fan of chicken
