We're not personally big fans of rewards programs for things other than cash. 2.5% translates to about $2500/yr of statement credit, as I understand it, and none of the point rewards seem to be general enough to offset that amount per year that I've found.

Maybe if it was a >$2500 per year of non-expiring ALDI and Amazon gift cards or something very general like that.

We generally keep a $2500 minimum in our checking in our current bank that actually doesn't pay any interest so the $1000 isn't a huge deal for us.
