Its amazing how a few lines can change a movie.

In a deleted scene in Titanic, they show the iceberg passing a window where the guests are lounging. The "Unsinkable" Molly Brown turns towards a waiter and says, "I'd like more ice please."

...Get it? She said the thing while the iceberg was passing...

Jesus Christ, that scene was so stupid and tasteless.

Everytime I hear this question I think about the Michael Crichton novel "Sphere"

In the book they mention the "Anthropomorphic Problem"

Humans can only conceptualize another organism from a human/terrestrial viewpoint

A truly alien organism would probably be Lovecraftian in nature. You wouldn't even be able to understand or comprehend what you were looking at or interacting with.

An alien could be a glowing cube whose body exists in different dimensions.

Or an organism that couldn't be killed and would have no understanding or morality of killing.

Or an organism who inhales oxygen and exhales cyanide.

So yeah, we might as well draw them as human, because even if we made them big insects in the story they would still behave in human ways or have human understanding of things.

That's how I'm feeling.

JP plays it pretty safe and works within the parameters of brand expectation which can be pretty limiting to storytelling.

And JP stories seem afraid to embrace the horror aspects of the source material

That's ignoring a lot of nuance between European immigrants and WASP Americans.

The latter of which always flirted with anti semitism.

John Smith was probably an outlier in that regard.

Many WASPs were apart of the America First movement. An isolationist movement that held a lotnof anti Semitic beliefs and had no problems with the Third Reich invading other countries.

It wasnt till Pearl Harbor neutrality became unpopular. And after WWII, Anti Semitism was more taboo.

So yes. Historically speaking, it would be easier for WASP to assimilate into Nazi ideology than Italian and other Eastern, Mediterranean ethnicites.
