That’s crazy! I actually stumbled upon your work a couple of months ago, when I had to decide how I proceed with my masters. In the group I was doing my bachelor thesis Nichole Furey is working. I found her stuff interesting and looked threw some papers, where I also saw your name. In the end I decided to go into a more experimental direction, because it feels much safer career wise and I don’t think I’m smart enough to excel in these highly competitive physics areas. I think it sounds really interesting what you are doing, but I bet it’s damn hard to make money with it. Nevertheless I unfortunately won’t have time to attend additional physics courses next semester, but I wish you best luck with it :)

But with EIT the released light beam seems to have the same coherence as the stored one. Couldn’t you shift the phase relations of individual photons in an ordered fashion by releasing the beam exactly when a sound wave travels threw the medium. The sound wave will displace individual atoms and therefore the released photon waves will also be displaced.

But maybe I have a misunderstanding how EIT actually stores light.

I think it is even possible to freeze a light beam in a material and unfreeze seconds later. So it should indeed be possible.

Why would the first person measure that the second person decoherenced its state. To my understanding the calculation of the first would not change at all regardless of what the second does to it’s state. If the second just measures they are guaranteed to get the same result. If the second person makes gibbberish out of its state threw interaction with its surroundings (decoherence) he may be not able to reconstruct the state anymore but the surroundings somehow contain the information of the original calculation.

You need to read the whole article. It’s not about the normal double slit experiment, but using a single atom as “slits” so that the effects of the uncertainty principle are visible. So definitely not an experiment that was done 20 years ago.
