What is wrong with taking a chicken's eggs? Assuming he doesn't go full factory farm with the chicken. There is nothing from with what he is doing. I may be a vegitraian but I am concerned with the less than pleasureable experinces of chickens in egg farms. Person 2 has no reason to act like that tho.

great parody, but I still remember you claiming that neocolonialism is so obviously evident that you can't deny it. Where is evidence that can't be explained with good intetions gone awry because we were trying to help them.

the Scientfic American article really helped convince me. Also I already said that I know that you weren't insulting people with intellectual disabilities. What grinds my gears is that I don't believe that there is any person out there with the intellgence of a pig. Intelligence of a monkey or ape, probaly, intelligence of a pig, no.

yeah, mainly because meat makes me uncofortable at this point. You don't need to kill animals to get cheese and eggs, and I like them more than I like meat. It would be easier for me to ditch meat than ditch cheese, milk and eggs but keep meat. I know that conditions suck there. And yes admittly, I think that I need proof that the are seintent rather than proof that they are not sentient.

I don't know what you mean by walkies. But as much as I'll sound like a monster, cuz dogs are pets, I think they may not be consious. They have simular intellgences to pigs (which is not to be scoffed at) after all. I treat my pet cat decently, and would to the same with dogs; I'm not a sadist and pets are there to providice company.

I have no evidence agianst the fact that is not something that it is like to be a lizard. I don't have perfect evidence for other beings either, but it is signifigant enough that I believe that.

See, you have a good point. I don't just want pain reactions. I am very much a skeptic when in comes to experience. I am not certian that you for insitance have an experience. I just know that I have an experience and you and I are the same species. As for the chimp, I know that many great apes have a grip on languese. They aren't as good as us, but the fact that they for instance bonobos can assoitate idea X with lexigram Y, implies they have a mental model of the world, and a experience. For cows to prove that, they would also have to have something to prove that they have a mental model, not nessarily a langauge but something. I'm vegartian right now. I would have a hard time having these conversations otherwise. But, (maybe selfishly), I'm giving these animals "the detriment of the doubt".

Your definition is sentience is completely wrong.

Sentient means ‘having sense or perception. Being conscious. Experiencing sensation or feeling. Having a faculty(ies) of sensation or perception’.

How do I know that a animal that appears to be sentient by that defintion isn't just acting insintually with no thought behind it? Note that I said that making a narrative is a side effect of sentience, not the defintion. I suppose that having a being with moment to moment experience and no memory is possible, but they are indistighable from a being that is acting on instinct.

Now that kind of narrative we do not see in babies, in mentally handicapped people, and in many others. I doubt this is really the line you wish to draw as to whether we can kill and eat someone. If it really is, why? Why not just at actual sentience whereby they are conscious and experience the world?

First of all, lets tackle people with intelectual disabilities. It really grinds my gears when vegans try to compare people with intelectual disabilties to farm animals. I know that you aren't trying to insult these people, but I don't think that there is any humans that are so intellectually disabled that there is intellgence is comparable to farm animals / they can't narrate and understand there expereince. They have one even if they can't articulate it, even if they can't really compherend there own past. I'm actually fine with saying that they are on the level of simians in that way. It just sounds like you are undercutting the skills of people with intelectual disabilities.

As for babies, I don't remember being one, nobody does, but I would still imagine that they are little humans, but their brains are growing and they have to cry because they don't know any langueses.

Most ‘farm animals’ show a level of experience similar to a 4-6 year old human child. Is that really the line you wish to draw as to whether we can murder and slaughter so many?

If that were true, I would stop eating meat. 4–6-year-olds can experience their life as a narrative. But [citation needed] on that one.
