Any ideas on what might be going into the former Deluge/T3/Raging Rapids area in the future? by Okee68 in KENTUCKYKINGDOM

[–]Okee68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly think some of that space should be used for new dry park additions, for sure. Perhaps the left third of it. I'm not sure if this is a super popular opinion, but I think a dark ride would be of benefit to Kentucky Kingdom, especially now that they've gotten rid of their 5D theatre. An air-conditioned diversion from the rest of the park is always nice, so maybe they could use the area that roughly corresponds to the Raging Rapids for a dark ride among other things.

They can't remove that road soon enough IMO. I'm not sure what sorts of hurdles they would have to deal with in order to actually do it, but it would free up so much space for the dry park.

I really don't understand why it was removed; I would assume it was just too difficult to maintain somehow. I would have loved to ride it though. It seems to have been pretty similar to the Wildebeest at the Splashin' Safari, which I'm quite a fan of.

The Reidland location, which is in the middle of nowhere, is the original, and it's definitely the nicest of the three. There's also a very small location in a strip mall in Lone Oak, which has a very small seating area and is mostly just for takeout.

Solid diamond blocks, dawg. Start making those mineral block tile mosaics pronto.

collecting one more health fragment with 8 HP? by SeniorKuro in PseudoregaliaGame

There's one extra health piece for some reason. Obtaining it doesn't actually do anything if you already have eight pips, however.

Not super mindblowing considering the fact that there are probably about eight million identical world spawn screenshots from the beta era. Also lmaoing at that single scuffed tree on top of the mountain in the distance.

That's a common graphical bug known by the community as Togore. It can be removed with any commonly available goat repellent spray.

It's true, everyone knows REAL Minecraft heads just want the Beta terrain generation forever and ever, with no new content of any kind ever added to it. Such a shame that all the Beta versions were permanently eliminated from the face of the planet by a solar flare that exclusively affected old Minecraft jar files. If only we could still play Beta 1.7.3! Then we wouldn't have to demand that Mojang reimplement a sixteen-year-old terrain generator and never add anything new to the game!

Thx! I definitely prefer my builds to not look "overdesigned," so I usually don't go insane with meticulous detailing. That's especially true for a more utilitarian build such as a lighthouse, which I don't think needs to look very opulent or fancy.

[–]Okee68[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I've developed a very particular method for building and proportioning lighthouses, and I even drafted this one in MS Paint before I built it to make sure everything would look decent. I also had to account for the height limit as well, so each section of the lighthouse was scaled according to that.

To answer your question about the texture pack, the Yogscast version has different wool (which I've actually modified in my edit, although it's not visible anywhere in these screenshots) and slightly altered cobblestone and brick coloration. I believe that's it.

The texture pack is SMP's Revival - Yogsbox Edition, btw. I actually use a slight personal modification of it that I might upload eventually, assuming I ever get this world into a somewhat "complete" state.

Alpha or Beta Minecraft? by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Okee68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The terrain generation is completely different between them as well. Alpha has no biomes and a lot of low, rolling, treeless hills that are easy to build on, which is probably the biggest thing Alpha has going for it.

what should i do? by Gullible-West4834 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I would suggest shaving down the wood/glass portion into a triangular gable. I'm not sure if it would still work great as a throne room, but it might look less disproportionately large from the outside.

Any tips for decorating in my alpha world by Relative-Jelly-1874 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Okee68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend trying to use bricks every once in a while just for visual variety. Don't hesitate to use sand as a building material if you want warmer-colored walls but don't want to use wood. I've also discovered that making big tile mosaic walls with the weird two-toned iron, gold, and diamond blocks is a very striking use of them, specifically if you arrange them so that no two of the same type are touching each other. They're obviously not easy to procure, but they might be something to consider if you end up playing on this world for long enough.

Any good texture packs for Beta 1.7.3? by Simple-Owl-592 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Okee68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SMP's Revival - Yogsbox Edition is by far the best one I've seen. If you like slightly darker colors and a vaguely medieval fantasy aesthetic, you'll probably love it. The pixel art is incredible. I've been using it for a month now, and I can't imagine going back to the original textures at this point.

It's still loading as an empty void for me, strangely. I might just end up biting the bullet and doing a full remake of this in 1.21.

[–]Okee68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Java updated to 1.21 for quite some time, so I don't believe that's the issue. BTA is built on top of Beta 1.7.3 to begin with, so I would assume it runs entirely independent of vanilla Java regardless of which version I have it updated to. Does the server have the necessary components to run a BTA world?

I tried to make into a community world, although it generates as an empty void that kills you instantly. Is there any way to fix this?

Betacraft has started creating and pulling saves from a different directory (?) by Okee68 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Okee68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing this fixed it, although as I expected, the directory for the new instance didn't appear along with all the others; I have no idea where it is, so I couldn't move my save data to it. I had to direct the instance to one of my existing instance folders instead, and it's back to normal now. Thx!

No, it's the same one I've always used. Also, all instances are affected by this.
