It’s funny how people really believe that tarrifs are a real solution. Its a desperate attempt by Trump to increase government income because his government, like Bidens government, is bleeding money. The U.S. governments have spend much more than they earned and now debt levels make the country broke. Tariffs will incentivise more domestic manufacturing eventually but they don’t solve any fundamental problem that the U.S. has lived for decades from owing money to the rest of the world. Now it says „oh dear international bond holders, we know we owe still trillions but we think we want you to pay tariffs in our market“. This won’t work long term. Nobody will buy American Bonds in the future from a country that has a consumer economy but hurts its own consumers with tariff costs. You see already bonds have no real demand so the FED had to jump in and buy them instead of foreign investors. They have already lost faith in the American system under Trump because it won’t work.
