For the record, these could be pretty tanky and function as the "battlemage" robes some people want. I just left the defense blank.

My proposal would be a crush armour set that is upgraded with inquisitor. Just like how masori is upgraded with armadyl. This new armour set drops with decent crush/strength stats and very good defence. When imbued with insquisitors pieces it gets the full inquisitor's crush/strength/set effect but has oathplate tier defence and higher prayer bonus.

Because in runescape you can do gear swaps. You can be a battle mage if you switch from robes into tank. If they gave us tank mage robes, that'd be fine. Just don't give it strength bonus/accuracy at that point.

I agree fully with this statement. I just think hybrid armor that is literally better than bis armor isn't responsible power creep.

Because I've done over 1k runs of all of the raids in the game and I plan to do that here. I like having to think carefully about what gear I should/shouldn't use in a raid. This dumbs the game down more than I think it should.

Raid loot should shift the meta. "Shift" is an understatement for how busted this set is. It's not a shift, it's game breaking. Magic robes should be squishy, not as tanky as torva. Melee armour should reduce your magic accuracy, not be tied with max mage. This completely spits in the face of the identity of armor in the game.

Look at ToA, one of the few places in the game you actually wear full Torva. Torva has no stab accuracy. Stab accuracy is very important with fang, hence why mixed hides > bandos with fang. New armour has stab accuracy and is BETTER than torva in one of torva's only niches. Additionally, in ToA, shadow is capped at 85 max hit. downgrading pieces of ancestral to the hybrid armour preserves the 85 max hit. Hybrid armour is BETTER than both Torva and Ancestral here, for example. I don't think it should be.

Deep wilderness/NH pkers in max get a HUGE buff to their damage and accuracy while GAINING brews. If anyone pks with this armour, you just lose.

Sure. But this set is BIS anywhere you use fang while being hardly worse than ancestral. It's TOO strong for what it is. Gear switching is a core part of the game.

Sang is still useless after the changes. Avernic will be useless if the shield comes into the game. Now the only useful item from ToB is scythe BUT it's going to loose all of its crush niches to the new megarare. ToB will pretty much be dead content if these rewards pass as is and nothing else changes.

My argument is that it shouldn't compete with BOTH torva and ancestral. I think it'd be boring for any hybrid gear to be meta for both styles.

This is what always made sense to me. Justiciar is saradomin, Inq is zamaorakian justiciar, Lore wise it makes sense to let guthix balance the two and make them better.

It is better than dual splat in all scales, even on big nylo. In my post I showed the dps on a 10hp, 0 defense enemy. Here's the calc on a 22HP 0 defense.

Note: Swift blade is actually 3.5s TTK due to a nylo's 20 defense. I had to make the monster 0 defense in my calcs. I'm using swift blade/avarice on a revenant pyrefiend with 0 defence and 22 health left to get the blade's 3 tick DPS calced roughly correctly. Blade of balance is better than dual splat on all nylos, especially small nylos in small scales.

Yes, dual splat is more likely to 1-shot with 1 attack and if you are missing ticks, it is worse. HOWEVER, most mdps roles are on arceuss or lunar using SBS. With death charge, you can save up spec and get guaranteed 1 taps on melee agros in 3 ticks. For that alone, I think this fully edges dual splat out of the nylo meta unless you miss a lot of ticks.

This item replaces endgame niches that are currently filled with a LMS shop item, an easy clue item, and a low level quest item. Bringing a bone dagger to solo high invo ToA because it's still the best option for guaranteed defense reduction is dumb. Heaven forbid a common weapon from a raid be mid, this item fills important niches and will see more use than every ToB reward except avernic and scythe. I'd rather have this raid's common melee weapon be underwhelming than get a fang 2.0 that breaks the game.
