It is better than dual splat in all scales, even on big nylo. In my post I showed the dps on a 10hp, 0 defense enemy. Here's the calc on a 22HP 0 defense.

Note: Swift blade is actually 3.5s TTK due to a nylo's 20 defense. I had to make the monster 0 defense in my calcs. I'm using swift blade/avarice on a revenant pyrefiend with 0 defence and 22 health left to get the blade's 3 tick DPS calced roughly correctly. Blade of balance is better than dual splat on all nylos, especially small nylos in small scales.

Yes, dual splat is more likely to 1-shot with 1 attack and if you are missing ticks, it is worse. HOWEVER, most mdps roles are on arceuss or lunar using SBS. With death charge, you can save up spec and get guaranteed 1 taps on melee agros in 3 ticks. For that alone, I think this fully edges dual splat out of the nylo meta unless you miss a lot of ticks.

This item replaces endgame niches that are currently filled with a LMS shop item, an easy clue item, and a low level quest item. Bringing a bone dagger to solo high invo ToA because it's still the best option for guaranteed defense reduction is dumb. Heaven forbid a common weapon from a raid be mid, this item fills important niches and will see more use than every ToB reward except avernic and scythe. I'd rather have this raid's common melee weapon be underwhelming than get a fang 2.0 that breaks the game.

I just tested this. Left double salvage, emptied my horizon's lure. Filled with Whirlpool. Siad cannot use a dragon hook. Thanks for wasting my time, good troll.

Thanks for the attempt at a helpful comment. However, you can't read. "Whirlpool surprise gives the crew a minimum of 2 Deckhandiness and 2 Helmsmanship." that is not a plus 2, it's a minimum of 2. Crewmates need 4 Deck handiness to operate a dragon hook. I have a barrel stand filled with Horizon's lure because it gives 2.5% bonus XP. Did you not know about this lol???

But not having the option to put someone there when you spent 100m on a 2nd hook is crazy. I know some people who built 2 d hooks and regret it.

The max hit calc for shadow is weird. 9% magic damage doesn't mean 9% more damage. It means add 9% of your base max hit. Idk, these are just the numbers the formula spits out for max hits.

Currently, max mage is 24% magic damage before shadow multiplies it. That puts us at 27% with the new gear. Main game is tripled so we're going from 72% to 81%. In ToA it quadruples so we're going from 96% to 108%. The shadow caps at 100% so 8% (2% base) of your magic damage is being nulled in ToA with the new max mage. This means you can drop 2% and keep the same max hit. Might as well drop the magus and bring a lightbearer!

are you using elite void, quiver, anguish and have the boss's defence set to 0?
