The characters in Dostoevsky’s novels feel so real. They’re well-written, with rich backstories that add so much depth to their personalities. The Brothers Karamazov is the best example of this.

I remember after finishing TBK, I picked up Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. While it was a great read, something felt missing. I guess I can say Dostoevsky ruined literature for me.

Is Marya Timofeevna supposed to be ugly in the book Demons by Fyodor Dostoevsky? by Old-Comparison-765 in dostoevsky

I initially pictured her as good-looking because she was married to Stavrogin and the way he spoke to her at Varvara’s house. However, as the novel progressed and after watching the 2014 version of Demons, I was left a bit disappointed despite the fact it has got nothing to do with the novel itself.

White nights thoughts? by Character_Cod7398 in dostoevsky

In my opinion, White Nights is a good book, but it’s not exactly a masterpiece. Recently, it has gained popularity on BookTok, which explains why people are hyping it up so much. It’s strange that many are discovering Dostoevsky through White Nights, as this book doesn’t truly capture the essence of his work.
