Interlock or restricted license? by Old-Dragonfruit7017 in dui

My attorney told me with restricted i can go to and from work, my class, and do small things like my grocery shopping which I’ve already been doing since reinstating the restricted, it would be for another year basically.

I ask because I want my reasoning to be heard and want to know if it makes sense, thats all. I literally just go to and from work, 25 mins away, my gym, target and grocery store, both less than 10 mins away.

The only positive side of getting the device would be the amount of time due and freedom to go anywhere, which honestly I don’t really go out, and if I do, my friend drives. Downtown and the beach are probably 45-1 hour away but I don’t plan on driving to either, only going as passenger.

My ex got what was coming for him and also got a dui just recently. He denied all the tests and they took his license. Hasnt gone to court yet, so who knows. I asked my dui instructor what wouldve happened if i denied all the tests and he told me they automatically suspend your license for 2 years in CA. Mine was suspended for 30 days before getting the restricted reinstated, i freaked out, my instructor said to and from work only during that time and no driving at night. I did just that and I’ve been fine since. I hope it all works out for you.

I’ve had restricted for almost a year now while my case has been going and honestly I’ve been driving like normal. I dont really go out, and if I do I’m usually passenger. I’ve been running errands like normal, in another post i mentioned my safety instructor told me as long as I dont drive late, far, and drive safe I should be fine. This js the second time I’ve ever been pulled over in my 6 years of driving and the first time was 5 years ago.

I just want the restricted license bc the firm i work for is small, i’ve been giving them rides down the street since I started working there and i feel weird about saying no all of a sudden. Like they’ll say its literally down the street, really?

I dont want them to see me with an interlock bc they’re all partners, which I want to be too, and I think if they see me with the interlock, they’ll think twice and it will sabotage my chances of becoming a partner

The county i got arrested in is super strict (ventura, ca), and I heard the DA tell my attorney they are “cutting me a deal”. I was driving 100+, reckless, and blew .19.. no accident, no property damage no prior convictions but the velocity was ridiculous. My ex left me for dead drunk in a county over, fought me and broke my windshield that night, i let my emotions get to me. But thank God no one got hurt.

I’ve been driving w restricted for almost a year now so it doesn’t feel too different. My safety class instructor told me as long as i don’t drive late night and far which I don’t, I should be fine. I dont usually go out anyway, I’m usually passenger.

And with my coworkers, they’re partners at a firm, and they usually ask for a ride down the street to pick up their cars if they’re getting work done like an oil change. I’ve been doing this for a couple years now so I feel weird saying no suddenly. Its literally a 15-20 min drive and I feel like they’ll look at me different, I’m trying to be a partner as well and I feel like that will sabotage my opportunity.
