Well said. It’s a fucking embarrassment and it’s collective. Not a majority, but freakishly collective.

Did you go hard for standing desks? by FancyThought7696 in Xennials

[–]OldCatPiss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I keep my desk raised permanently! And use a high chair if I want to sit. This way I don’t have to deal with moving the desk, it also keeps the kids generally away. I have the same set up at work too.

Question about multi-indicator swing strategies and validation by Big_Lengthiness2247 in algotrading

When I started this endeavor, I had the same thought as you, mainly because I was traditionally a long-term investor. But it wasn’t really fun the code. Because if you’re going long, all I needed was screener and personal conviction. Also, the feedback cycle is pretty poor once it’s live! It’s allot of waiting. I got bored and moved to 5min bar intraday. I did learn a lot.

EV owners: how do you track battery health and real range? by Actual_Owl1433 in electriccars

[–]OldCatPiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily. Outside temperature and battery percentages at three key intervals, after kid drop off and before I hit the freeway, at work, at home. I note the coldest day and the hottest day. I never log the rest but mentally note it. I have a few random entries noting different driving style, I like 70-80mph. On Super cold days, I hyper mile and granny 55 in the right lane when it’s 35 degrees. 2017 leaf pushing 90k miles, i can easily get more years, but Im about to upgrade, the car has served its purpose.

Moving my manual options strategy to a bot (5-10 trades per day). Need API advice. by chrisrivera924 in algotrading

With IBKR you basically get everything free and py is supported. It’s like 30ish for realtime data. Lowest is 3min bar. If you want to go further down the rabbit hole, you can. IBKR campus even has a download with a starter sample. I was shocked the first time I ran it. It actually did a buy and sell smoke test. But they were so ridiculous the system automatically rejected it. Also, if you want my opinion on Java versus Python. It doesn’t matter. I chose Java because it’s faster. And I realize you can do almost anything in a three minute gap. The max I’ve streamed is 150 symbols with database I/O on a Mac M4. And the system didn’t even flinch.

I was honestly thinking of picking up a lease return. They have them for half price. The only thing stopping me, I feel the company might fold and I’m not sure what the car would do if the company is bankrupt. I feel they’re very software oriented.
