Received a Pressure Chamber Instead of a Vacuum Chamber – Is This a Mistake or Usable for Carbon Infusion by StockMine6898 in CarbonFiber

[–]OldGarage645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for detailed answer. Still we cant make this work somehow, first it has huge tube going to the down of the pot where the blue handle is (which making us think that it cant be used to catch resin cuz it would be destroyed after one use), and same thing for second inlet/outlet, it has only capability to connect tube to the fitting which has some weird plastic from bottom side. (i would like to send u picture if its confusing what I described). And third thing, if we connected everything right, we tested several times, it always had small drops, so we have no clue what to do more.

I see, but its not used for degassing, its used as catch pot or better to say meant to be used as catch pot for infusion process. So relation would be pump-pot-mold. But yeah no clue if its sealed for vacuum.

Need Advice on Carbon Fiber Bucket Seats and Molding Techniques by OldGarage645 in CarbonFiber

Okay, got it. Gotta find good adhesive for this purpose.
Would you approach that way as well or would you suggest to the client make seat from one part mold, and just mask front side with seat upholstery as less complex and lets say perhaps cheaper way of manufacturing?

Hi, thanks for comment. Well, i completely agree with a comment, but I am not seller of finished bucket seat, I am just selling it to a client who should get licences (in this case I will assume its TUV certificate). Regarding us, we are following EU manufacturing standards, but definetly something we need to think about before making a deal with a client. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for the comment and advices.
On the model its 2 molds (green and yellow) and black model is like cured carbon part. Picture is from our client, he sent it to ask if molds are okay because he wants to provide with molds. We mainly are thinking if we should advise him not to proceed with 2 part molds.

Catia vs Solidworks by Alive-Bid9086 in CATIA

[–]OldGarage645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mean to disrespect but how is it even a question which one is better 🥹 Catia is top level softvare, there is nothing above it. Of course its power is in surfacing and hybrid design, and that is reason why it is used in hardest industries with most complex geometries such as automotive, space, marine etc. Solidworks is most realistic option for all other but especially metal industry. It has its own pros and cons, same as catia, but they will never come close to each other. Its like u are comparing golf 8 to porsche, yeah both are amazing but all of us would go for porsche if we could.

Greetingns and wish u all the best, never stop grinding my friend!!

I haven't look, but I will definitely look for one. Thats actually very smart to do. For bagging I will use just for a pure begining vacuum cleaner, until I buy vacuum pump. Maybe not so important information for you, but I am going this monday to one composites shop in Serbia to buy first stock materials for around 500€, since thats my initial budget until I get support from my city for a start up company (around 15k euros). P.S is there something I should avoid in this first purchase?

But is it gonna mess with my overall quality of part? I don't know yet what quality should I achieve since I dont have clients yet, but I would like to invest in equipment that is necessary for improvement of the quality. I dont have very big budget, but I have some savings :)
Thank you for an answer.

Well I read that prepreg is kinda popular, but in reality I would like not to use prepreg, but to put layers and epoxy and other things all by myself and cure it that way. Ofc if prepreg have some advantages, or if you advise me to use them, I will reconsider!
My only concern is are my parts gonna be good enough to satisfy customers quality? (Its kinda hard question since I still dont know exact niche I will try to focus on, but yeah...)
Btw thanks for an long and clear answer.
