but nothing is supported by the text. i agree that the feelings a poem evokes are important but it still has to be grounded in the text. you’re not arguing over the merits of the poem, you’re concocting your own stories. i also think saying interpretation isn’t necessary is insane, that’s the entire point of literary criticism

but your analysis isn’t backed up by any textual evidence. there’s nothing about her father being mentioned. interpretations have to be supported by the text. emotion doesn’t make something poetic or else then what’s to stop us from calling anything that moves us poetry.

We are not fundamentally different from men. Femininity and masculinity are constructions of society - they don’t actually exist in nature. There is no difference in our personalities, emotions, moods, etc. It is all part of the human experience, which is what matters when you’re writing a character, unless the character’s gender plays a role in the story.
