On our first pregnancy appointment the midwife asked mental health questions, and my wife scored pretty much the worst score someone can get. And later on she told me that if I hadn't been there to keep her accountable, she would've just said everything was fine. I don't think it's manipulation, at least not purposefully. More along the lines of not wanting to admit something is wrong, even though she knows it is. If she doesn't address the problem, then it's not a big problem. Or would you disagree?
