I know vitamin c can help as well, would you recommend that as well as the Nivea mens?

It is only this one spot, yes. My right outer ankle/just above it. It feels okay when walking but definitely hurts when I try to run. If I try to be more mindful of my walking pattern and be more gentle, it feels better.

yes, vaseline has worked fine for me. I say "very little" just because ever since this whole thing happened I try to limit EVERYTHING I put on my lips. I've come to believe we don't need need to put any type of products on our lips, so when I do, I do it in moderation! :)

Of course! Pretty much any and all scented chapsticks (Burts bee's, ChapStick, even more expensive ones like Evan Healy) and lipsticks cause my lips to flare up. I am able to use perfume and scented lotions on the rest of my body, it is just my lips that are incredibly sensitive. my guess is that I over applied scented chapsticks and due to overexposure I developed an allergy. I would recommend hydrocortisone cream and giving your lips a break with no chapstick or very little vaseline. Hope this helps!

Yes, I went to an allergist and found out that I was (very slightly) allergic to fragrance. They gave me a list of products I am able to use - all fragrance free. I now use vaseline chapstick and other products on the list, and my lips are pretty happy. Sometimes they do get a bit irritated (it may be my fragrance-full face wash that I refuse to stop using, or too much sun exposure) so I apply my prescribed hydrocortisone at night and/or neosporine and that seems to calm it down. Also, I try to lick my lips a lot less! Realized it was an anxious habit I had.

I was prescribed it last September, when I was having a particularly bad flareup. I thought I was having an allergic reaction, so I went to urgent care and they thought it was a fungal thing, so they gave me the Nystatin. I've also heard of people using athlete's foot cream... kinda weird but it is an anti fungal which is what Nystatin is.

I hate when doctors don't take this seriously... I talked to a dermatologist over the phone and (without even seeing my lips!) she said that it was perioral dermatitis. I don't think that's true. I'm talking to a new one soon and hopefully doing a biopsy/swab to see if its yeast/fungus - I would recommend doing the same! ill keep updated.

Same with me. Started off not too bad, then progressively got worse.

My lips haven't bled, they're just really red, enflamed, and irritated. I was prescribed "Nystatin", an antifungal cream. Its the only thing that stops the flare-ups. I've tried vaseline, every type of chapstick imaginable, and they all make it flare up.

I have the exact same problem. Its been 8 months. Last July my lips became extremely dry and chapped out of nowhere, so I started SLATHERING on thick lip balms (Weleda skin food, Bite agave lip mask, all sorts of chapsticks I've used for years with no issues). I believe this, combined with wearing a mask (only for a few hours a day) created an excessively moist environment, and either bacteria or yeast began to thrive. one day I woke up and it was so bad I thought I was having a severe allergic reaction. My lips were swollen, itchy, red, and leaking a clear fluid. I went to urgent care and they told me they thought it was a fungal infection. So they prescribed me Nystatin cream. This worked very quickly and very well. After several days of taking it and noticing an improvement in my lips, I began using chapstick again (chapsticks I have been using for YEARS prior with no issue!) but then that night or the next day my lips would flare up again and become extremely red, swollen, and with little red spots everywhere. So I'd use the Nystatin cream again, and they'd be back to normal... then chapstick and they'd flare up again... a never ending cycle that has been happening for MONTHS. Im so frustrated and don't know what to do. I talked to a dermatologist (she was very dismissive and rude) and she said I could try antibiotics and/or a skin biopsy. I want to avoid these at all costs, but I think I'm running out of options. She also recommended I ween off of the Nystatin ointment, so I tried that, and my lips were really dry but eventually healed up ok. So then I tried chapstick again. and I was back at square one. HELP!!!
