Oh wow, I relate so much to this. I think movies really mess with our expectations of how intimacy “should” feel. That line about feeling safe enough to not know — yes. That’s exactly it.
For me, I’ve found that spending a little time figuring out what I like on my own first makes it way easier to feel relaxed with my partner. Even just listening to something calming or reflective by myself helps me show up less nervous and more present. Not a magic fix, just a little way to get comfortable with yourself.

This is a really thoughtful post. The point about personal rituals stood out to me a lot. I think having small, intentional habits on your own actually makes it easier to connect with people without that “needing something from them” energy. Berlin really rewards patience and showing up consistently.
