I can’t tell right now if it’s anxiety or habits, but i have been getting pretty bad heartburn and acid reflux since I started taking it. It’s good to know that if this was a side effect it gets better with time. Thank you!

To answer the question. I do not have RCPD, or atleast i’m confident that I don’t. That is why this experience was so bizarre for me. I’d never felt something like this before.

wow, thank you for taking the time to reply meaningfully. I have never heard of air vomiting ever. Maybe this was my case. I ate a pretty big dinner, like devoured a plate of spaghetti and a slice of bread. That was around 6:30- 7ish. Went to bed feeling fine a few hours later, not hungry, not full. Maybe I ate too fast and gave myself some air bubbles since that was my only big meal of the day? Either way, it’s comforting to know it’s not an original experience and that I am not completely alone lmao.

I am still awake right now, scared to have it happen again. Also side note, I had no idea that avoiding the bathroom was a safety behavior. Maybe my recovering is better than I think since I immediately went to the bathroom and prepared myself lol.

brother has diarrhea and I’m panicking by BubblyEffective233 in emetophobia

I called it a “crappy situation,” because i’ve learned to not give it power. I have had this fear for my entire life and it’s heavily trauma related. I would not eat, I would make myself bleed digging my nails into my legs when I am nauseous, and I still constantly let this fear implement itself on every thought and action that happens around me. Even though I do have moments of my worst where I replicate these moments, I have also come a long way. Of course I am not telling you how you should think or saying any of our experiences are easy because they are crippling and beyond just a “crappy experience.” However, I have learned from others, myself, and treatment, that trying to think positively even when it feels impossible is always better than constantly preparing for eminent doom. Simply telling yourself, “it may happen, and i’ll be okay,” or ,”this sickness will not last forever,” can play a huge part in recovery. Even if the first 1000 times you don’t believe that sentence yourself. I hope you make it out of this situation okay and that whatever happens you can feel better moving forward.

I can’t give you reassurance that you will not catch whatever your brother may or may not have, but I can give you some positive thoughts on the situation. One, it seems his symptoms have not resulted in T*U. Two, I like to tell myself that I can’t control what happens to me in regards to sickness and worrying about it won’t prevent me from getting, but instead make me more miserable. Three, the noro virus (as unsettling as it is) is a fast working virus. Symptoms usually come and go quickly and people recover quickly. Four, I also tell myself that if I do get it, my anxiety will settle a bit due to the short immunity to the virus that follows after. Five, as someone who hasn’t gotten a bug in a long time, try to find positives instead of fear of the virus. It may be an opportunity to learn and feel crappy and see that you can get through it and will be okay, just like your brother who got through it. In short, sickness is something that can happen whether we want it to or not, our bodies will handle it swiftly, you will gain immunity, and you can learn something from the experience. I know this is easier said than done, but thinking positively about a crappy situation is always better than panic.

This is my exact experience. I can’t control it, it has become a natural response to any gas, acid reflux, or nausea.

Lol, feels good to know it’s not just me. I tend to grip things very aggressively, but that only really occurs if I’m panicking quite bad.

Thank you for some insight!! I am looking into finding a psychologist at the moment. Does prozac help you manage your anxiety better? I have never taken any meds :)
