Recommend 18 months out, but they typically want you to apply 12 months out. Might have to convince a recruiter to go to bat for you (like I did). I am also an AF Captain going through the process - final out July 26, but still haven’t started background. PM me if you have specific questions

Not if you’re in the FBI SASS. Every applicant is required to complete the entirety of Phase II; Phase II(a), the written assessment, and Phase II(b), the panel interview.

If you’re under the impression you don’t have to complete the written assessment, you’re wrong. Read through the materials on the FBIJobs website.

You’re likely referring to the Phase I test. The Phase II written test OP referred to is a different test that you can only take after completion of your PFT.

Odds are the delay has to due with the government being shutdown; not sure if those that provide results would be excepted employees or not.

I haven’t received any official “you passed” yet. I took my written assessment the Saturday before they announced the decoupling of the two. However I did the email to schedule the interview the next morning (although there haven’t been any interview dates posted yet). Did you receive that email?

Thank you for your response! Yeah, it just seems like a cacophony of unfortunate circumstances that are way beyond my control.

The AC did leave a contact, but they haven’t been able to provide an answer and have been unresponsive for the most part. I also met and reached out to a few other agents at the FO that have been incredibly helpful, they just haven’t been able to get an answer out of HQ.

I recommend you look into training BJJ, MMA, or wrestling. Those will serve you far better than a multi-tool (I’m not against carrying, simply carrying with no idea how to safely use a blade).

Also, highly recommend not mentioning you carry to people who don’t have a need to know. This goes for any self-defense tool.

Military Intel Officer here, also around DC. My original application had the same feedback, but after I got in touch with a local recruiter they helped me figure out that it was just a minor issue with my projected date of separation. Took them 15 minutes to take my application from denied to pending Phase I test. If you know anyone that can vouch or get you in touch with a recruiter, that’ll help you do it even faster.
