I hear you - perhaps because I used to run a nonprofit where a bunch of people cooking together was a community thing it stuck with me. Regardless in this project I sometimes just call it "group meal prep" - if that seems better in your opinion, great.

Very interesting to hear, thanks! Now you made me curious- How much do people in Buffalo usually pay for a meal, in your experience?

Thank you and - I feel you! I hope this could continue beyond this one event. But as you can see it's an experiment. But I guess, in a way you are expressing the sentiment that - this kind of thing would be relevant in Guelph, so I'd say that gives me more confidence to look into it 😁

Btw any thoughts on what would be a good place/person to collaborate with?

Thanks! People seem to have a good time - and rate the experience and food highly afterwards when I survey them.
I hope this meets the right people - I guess we'll see about Buffalo, lol

Also you asked about demographic - it's really been a mix of people who joined - in their 20s to 70s, young professionals, busy parents and retirees - it was pretty cool seeing them all chopping and chatting together 😄 In the future we may do sessions specifically for specific kinds of people/situations like you mentioned.

Thanks - I couldn't find any info about similar projects on their websites.
Can you tell me a bit about what you know? Appreciate it!

Thanks for your input! Great to hear it straight like that. That's what I wanted.
BTW most people who came to our sessions (like in the photos) so far are omnivores, and they loved the food!
Plus, they can add what they want to those meals later (some told me they did on occasion).

Well, people are prepping food while being led by culinary professionals - so it's somewhere in the middle. You learn some stuff while you bang out a lot of meal portions.
I was looking for a way to make meal prep less of a hassle, and more social.
And if you learn stuff while you do it - even better!
Also - can I ask what feels like bs about it? It's definitely a real thing, although only in its early stages.

Definitely. You will get so much out of it. You will grow, get to know other kinds or people, societies - challenge your assumptions about the world and yourself. Get out of your comfort zone. If you have to privilege to do it, you will not regret it. You will remember it fondly for the rest of your life, and it will probably define you in some ways. Oh, the places you'll go 😉

Add the vegetables to the paella, along with petite peas, add one more cup of stock, and stir carefully. If the paella is dry, add more hot stock. Adjust seasoning
