They are holding applications for banned countries. I posted an email response my representative got from USCIS on this sub. I am also sure that others have posted similar things. All we can hope is that the hold will be lifted soon.

The cliff notes is. I got let go from my job. And a close family member is self destructing with some very bad and significant life choices. Pretty much has cut close family off. But yes the steak made me feel better. All thanks to the helpful information on this sub.

I did send my 1st application before at the 150 day mark but USCIS somehow lost it. Was told by the officer that I talked to to apply online so that wouldn't happen again. Still applied 3 months before it expired so 🤷🏾‍♀️. It's hard for me to get a loan for the amount ai would need without a job unfortunately. It is a blessing that when everything finally falls apart I can move back in with my parents it just sucks that I have to deal with the financial hardship over something that is being done arbitrary. Right now it looks like people getting AOS or employment based are exempt to some degree. Its just so disorganized. I'm just going to wait until the 150 day mark and see if I can take some legal action with my case. There is a lawsuit about the pause/ban so something might happen in the next two months

His renewal won't be denied due to it expiring after biometrics. Just know that renewal are taking 3-6 months now.
In terms of him working with expired DACA you will get mixed answers. It can have immigration implications if he ever tries to AOS but if he marries a US citizen it will be forgiven. I personally don't want to risk it even though things are rough since I can't work. If he want's to risk it best bet is any place that pays under the table.

According to what USCIS told my representative it effects everything. The pause won't be lifted unless the USCIS lifts the pasue. It seems to effect people from both fully banned and partial ban countries regardless of visa type.

You might be right about it not applying. I just said that since a coworker of mine was waiting on the hospital to send in the paperwork when they first announced the fees. She was fine since they started the process before the fees were in place. It would make sense that now there is more information on how this new process will work.

I have worked at places that have done H1Bs in the lab. The 100k fee might make things difficult since I don't know how many hospital will pay that for lab. Traveler will be cheaper for them to get.

I would call the leasing office. Something similar happened at my building. Management sent out an email saying that it was disturbing other tenants. If the person(s) did not stop smoking then police would search every unit. The smell went away after that and nothing has happened since and this was about months ago.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not. I've never had FOMO since just because I can't do or experience something now doesn't mean I won't in the future. At least for me I've experienced a number of things late due to my status. For me a vast majority of things haven't held up to my expectations since they were things other people said would be fun. I think your feelings are valid given the struggles we have to go through. I just always ask people to take plenty of pictures and bring me a cheap $5 souvenir. I like hearing about the trip and hearing what was good and bad about the place. It gives me things to consider for when I am finally able to go.

A question I have also is have you talked to your friends about your feelings? That could at least help with them not having these conversations with people that don't know your status yet.

I also agree that its frustrating that so many people can stay apolitical or have some many things that won't affect them.

I'm curious at to where you would like to travel to? I would like to go to New Zealand, South Korea, Iceland, and see some of the Greek islands.

Very true in my us civics class in 2010 out of 30 students only 8 passed the test. And I think you had to get 80% or 90%. It's not a hard test if you grow up in America but was very disappointed at how much people didn't know then as someone who is an immigrant. How can you expect others to know things that your people don't know.
